Hey y'all. What is the purpose of the ultraviolet looking light where the subway tunnel meets the platform? I've also seen them in the Peachtree Station in Atlanta's MARTA.

Hey y'all. What is the purpose of the ultraviolet looking light where the subway tunnel meets the platform? I've also seen them in the Peachtree Station in Atlanta's MARTA.

 

The blue lights are located every few hundred feet all through out the tunnels in the entire system. They are the location of a phone, fire extinguisher, and emergency alarm box all for employee use only.
