Joe Posted June 12, 2009 Share #76 Posted June 12, 2009 What about express service between Church Av and Kings Hwy? If it did exist, it would be a rush-hour peak-direction-only service a-la the . I wouldn't count on it being added anytime soon though.
Amtrak7 Posted June 26, 2009 Share #77 Posted June 26, 2009 Potential bad news: The has posted a service advisory on its website saying that trains run to Church from 7/5 until 12/31. Does this mean that the goes back to Smith/9 next year?

Queens Surface Posted June 26, 2009 Share #79 Posted June 26, 2009 No, its because there starting work on the Viaduct and there removing the 3rd rail on the express tracks and replacing the switches are 4th ave. and other stuff.

Not enough ridership south of Church to warrant it.
bstar1 Posted June 27, 2009 Share #81 Posted June 27, 2009 When R68/68a runs on G that means they will use full length train cars right?:tup:
R32 3348 Posted June 27, 2009 Share #82 Posted June 27, 2009 Same length cars. However there is no evidence confirming the transfer of the to CI yet so we shouldn't speculate about it until it happens.

8 Av/Fulton Exp Posted June 27, 2009 Share #87 Posted June 27, 2009 The extension is only temporary, but if it is well-used they will make it permanent. in that case petition the line riders to overflow the line with riders then they must complain about a lack of express service
Art Vandelay Posted June 27, 2009 Share #88 Posted June 27, 2009 The G WILL run out of Coney Island eventually. The G will NOT run out of Coney Island too soon.

Y2Julio Posted June 27, 2009 Share #90 Posted June 27, 2009 Don't know why people think the will be moved to Coney Island. Church Avenue is too far from the Coney Island yards to be used as it's source for trains.

Church Avenue is too far from the Coney Island yards to be used as it's source for trains. The G was originally planned to be cut back to Court Sq. (which it essentially is already), so it would be closer to CI than Jamaica. Transferring it would also put less strain on Jamaica.
FlushingExpress Posted June 28, 2009 Share #92 Posted June 28, 2009 someone please tell me they arent gonna put R68's on the i cannot say they will nor can i say they will not, but it would definitely be an improvement if it did. I hope we don't see 68s/68A's on the .. explain why you hate having R68/68As on the G? it will not kill you to have them on that line. if you must, then avoid that line. R68/68As will still remain on the ( for your benefit, but i hope the takes the (Q)'s R68/68As so it can be fully R160s. having noting but R68/68As on the Brighton Line is boring even though i like those cars. Don't know why people think the will be moved to Coney Island. Church Avenue is too far from the Coney Island yards to be used as it's source for trains. Church Avenue is closer to Coney Island than Court Square is to Jamaica. look at the . it terminates at whitehall street in manhattan and yet, is maintained at coney island. That because CI is the only BMT yard other then East New York. Also it is where the cars that are assigned to the are shopped. The uses R46 cars which are assigned to Jamaica Yard. I think that the will stay R46 for the time being, but remember this is the TA and anything can happen. I don't know why people on here try to guess what the TA will do. This that they them selfs plan change and change often.
Luis1985 Posted June 28, 2009 Share #94 Posted June 28, 2009 hey if they do, then they do. theres nothing we can do about it. dont get me wrong. i wouldnt want to see R68A's on the but the is eventually gonna be doing car movements once new cars keep coming into the system.
