kaback9 Posted May 19, 2009 Share #1 Posted May 19, 2009 The Raritan Central Railway is a railroad that operates in a business park in Edison NJ, I was in the area so I decided to stop by and photograph a little. Here are some shots, the crews were very friendly and did not mind chatting a bit about each engines history as well as any other questions I had. http://kaback9.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1608365 http://kaback9.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1608367 http://kaback9.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1608369 http://kaback9.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1608371 http://kaback9.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1608374 http://kaback9.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1608378 http://kaback9.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1608381 Enjoy! kaback9 Posted May 20, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted May 20, 2009 The GE B23-7 is an older 4 axle GE, it was to go head to head with the EMD GP series. I like the Raritan Central as most short lines don't use GE's(since older units are generally regarded throughout the industry as crap) so their sort of unique. I hope thats the units your talking about haha. The GP10's as the photos state are ex-Conrail. I was hoping the blue unit would be there when I showed. They have another one in Red. But the Blue is always better:).
metsfan Posted May 20, 2009 Share #6 Posted May 20, 2009 Interesting! Funny how now EMD & GE are equal in market presence and fit all most every possible market niche from pax to freight to work & historical excursion backup power etc. Shame ALCO & baldwin had to be casualties of the loco wars though. - A
