Parlor or Bar Cars?

I recall years ago the LIRR operated parlor cars on trains to the East End, especially summertime. They also ran bar cars on several commuter trains all year. Does anyone know when their last operation was or have any more info on them?

The LIRR still has Hamptons Reserve service, which basically means they bring booze to the seats. However, I would assume that the last Parlor cars retired when the C3 bilevels debutted in 98/99.

95% correct. The cars were retired aside from some cannonball trains, not pulled from service or rebuilt, simply too old time to go, new stuff came in.

LIRR does however allow people to sell beverages at some stations.

It amazes me that the MTA sells booze on the platform to take aboard its commuter rail, while at the same time it will give you a summons for drinking a cup of coffee on its subway.

Food & drink is allowed on all (MTA), :septa:, and (NJT) transportation.

Views on alcohol aside, this is a long held tradition of selling refreshments along main line rail. Along (NJT) and :septa: there are lots of starbucks & dunkin donuts either in the station or not too far away.
