Thank goodness it's not interfering with SI ferry service. I have a feeling the Verazzano bridge is going to me a mess, even at 5:30 in the afternoon. Might as well take the ferry coming home from school then.

Buses rerouted during Asian Lunar

New Year Parade in Flushing, Queens

To avoid congestion, especially along Union St, Sanford Av and Main St, buses will be rerouted during the parade.

Please look for bus stop posters and listen to bus drivers’ announcements for the latest NYC Transit or MTA route and bus stop information.

Q12, Q13, Q14, Q15, Q16, Q17, Q19, Q20A, Q20B, Q25, Q27, Q28, Q44, Q48, Q58, Q65, Q66, QBx1, N20, N21

The NYCDOT page shows no street closures for the area...

During last year's parade, how did they reroute the buses?

The MTA needs to be more like the TTC. (Put major bus transfer locations in fare control for subway riders.)

Whenever there's a parade they usually reroute or shorten a route, I remember last year's Memorial Day Parade, the Q65 wasn't running into College Point, instead making its last stop around the parade starting location.

So during the NYC Marathon, do the S53, S79, X1, and X10 get sent via New Jersey? Or do they reroute to the ferry terminal and have people connect?

The S53 and S79 typically ran to the last stop of the borough of Staten Island. Fingerboard Rd (s79), Lily Pond Av (s53); they have local bus connections to the Ferry on the route.

The x1 and x10 usually stops running during the marathon once the bridge is open for traffic.

I normally don't get furious, but this is one of those cases where I will. Those crazy meglomanic marathon organizers think their race and their TENS of thousands of people is more important than the HUNDREDS of thousands of people in cars and buses impacted by the street closures. To make things worse, much of the Brooklyn/Manhattan waterfront is almost CUT OFF from the rest of the city. How much money does this cost in lost productivity? Police/truck driver overtime? Emissions increases due to gridlock?

This is just unacceptable.

As for the buses, the big problem will be Downtown Brooklyn, Williamsburg, Manhattan crosstown, and the Brooklyn-SI buses.

The event brings in millions of $$$ to the city and area. It's one day.....on a Sunday, no less. I can live with that and take the subway.

How about the S53 & 79 on Staten Is? I know they cant access Bklyn due to the VZ closed, but do they run the routes to just before the bridge & terminate there or is service suspended on the entire line?

My guess is since the S53 is the only bus that serves the bridge between Port Richmond and Arrochar, and the S79 is the only bus that serves the mall and Arrochar, it'll just terminate at the bridge until the marathon is over. Gee, the ferry's gonna be hella packed. Good thing I don't go to school on Sundays anymore.

The biggest problem isn't the closure of the Verrazano, it's the virtual isolation and service cut from Downtown Brooklyn.

All I can say is, if you are on an affected route that day, make sure to wish the best of luck to the driver and the evil devil to the NYRR (organizer)!

According to the site, the Northbound B44 will run on Bedford up until Gates, turn on Gates to Marcy Av, run up Marcy Av until Division Av, and then run on Division Avenue up to Robeling Street. It seems easier to just keep it on Marcy Avenue from Gates Avenue up until Broadway, and then just let it go on Broadway to the Plaza. Also, the site doesn't mention how B44 buses terminating at Flushing Av will turn around, I'm guessing they're just gonna turn around on Wallabout St.

@Amtrak7: It sucks that the Downtown Brooklyn buses won't be serving the heart of Downtown Brooklyn, but we can always run there from the last stop :D

A lot of the detours don't seem to make sense, or contradict with each other from one direction to the other. I think the MTA needs to proof-read these. Anyone else notice this?
