M1 East Village: 116th St, Lexington Av, 39th St, Park Av, regular route.

The S53 and S79 typically ran to the last stop of the borough of Staten Island. Fingerboard Rd (s79), Lily Pond Av (s53); they have local bus connections to the Ferry on the route.

 

The x1 and x10 usually stops running during the marathon once the bridge is open for traffic.

To make things worse, much of the Brooklyn/Manhattan waterfront is almost CUT OFF from the rest of the city. How much money does this cost in lost productivity? Police/truck driver overtime? Emissions increases due to gridlock?

As for the buses, the big problem will be Downtown Brooklyn, Williamsburg, Manhattan crosstown, and the Brooklyn-SI buses.

My guess is since the S53 is the only bus that serves the bridge between Port Richmond and Arrochar, and the S79 is the only bus that serves the mall and Arrochar, it'll just terminate at the bridge until the marathon is over. Gee, the ferry's gonna be hella packed. Good thing I don't go to school on Sundays anymore.

The biggest problem isn't the closure of the Verrazano, it's the virtual isolation and service cut from Downtown Brooklyn.

 

All I can say is, if you are on an affected route that day, make sure to wish the best of luck to the driver and the evil devil to the NYRR (organizer)!

According to the site, the Northbound B44 will run on Bedford up until Gates, turn on Gates to Marcy Av, run up Marcy Av until Division Av, and then run on Division Avenue up to Robeling Street. It seems easier to just keep it on Marcy Avenue from Gates Avenue up until Broadway, and then just let it go on Broadway to the Plaza. Also, the site doesn't mention how B44 buses terminating at Flushing Av will turn around, I'm guessing they're just gonna turn around on Wallabout St.

A lot of the detours don't seem to make sense, or contradict with each other from one direction to the other. I think the MTA needs to proof-read these. Anyone else notice this?
