I work for the City Council, and I stumbled across this in an Open Government Google blog. http://transit.frumin.net/subway/spark.php It was last updated 2007, but you can see all of the hardwork done here. I also noticed the MTA-NYCTA division has a job position for this...more of a econometrics position, where the person predicts ridership based on the HEET meters at the stations.
