  1. It's a good score. Not good enough to get called very soon. But within the typical 4 year life span these lists stay open, you can expect a call from TA in 2-3 years time.

  2. DDC ( defensive driving course ) does nothing when it comes to MTA. On your drivers abstract it still shows up. You still see how many points you have it just shows up that you took the course. Your points aren't removed. The DMV can still see them as well as companies such as MTA. It's only useful for getting cheaper insurance.

When you go for pre-employment they print it out in front of you. And every violation that gives you points still shows the total number of points you recived. It's kinda funny because they skip right over the DDC and go straight to counting your points.

it shows you had the violation, I understand that but the driver defense course removes 4 points from being current on your record... I'm not going to lie that I never got the ticket... I've had points on my record in the past too but every 18months 2 points get removed automatically from being current also...

  3. Before I got hired for mta bus operator... Think they said that you can't have any pending moving violations.... Might be different for this position

How can I find out for sure if a pending ticket that hasn't gone to court can cause me to be put on hold? If that's true I'll tell my attorney to not delay or postpone it and after the verdict I can just take a driver safety course to wipe out the points....

  4. Oh without a doubt. When I said work up that was towards myself.

just spoke with my attorney and he said he can postpone until later speeding ticket for three years starting now so I'm good, and he probably can shave off a few points

  5. To be honest with you i don't believe your chances are done. It only hurts how quickly you'll get hire. My personal opinion.

Like say they call you in next year 2018 june they most likely gonna put you on hold until after 3 years has pass from when you first got the ticket in 2017 june. So in june of 2020 you'll be able to reinstate your name on the list which hopefully it'll still be in play. Plus you can't have more then 4 points on your license either at time of hire.

So my advice to you is start fresh clean up your license and stay out of trouble starting now. Best of luck to you!

I see, well I'm going to hire an attorney and fight this thing and try to shave down as many points as I can

  7. Since this sunday is the first day of the multiple-choice test. I wanna wish everyone taking it good luck and push forward. My exam is on the 21 of may at midwood high school at 8:30 in the morning good lord. Gonna need a good night sleep for this one.

Mine is too but at 2pm thankfully... I want to drive there so I'm hoping there's parking around

  8. Don't waste your time or money on those books. It won't help you in the least. The test is pure reading comprehension and common sense. Just take your time reading the questions and review your answers and you'll be fine. But honestly none of these exams are very difficult so don't stress needing to study for the exam.

  9. As long as you dont have any unpaid parking tickets when youre called for the pre-employment process (years after the actual test) youll be fine. If you have any dings on your record, make sure to disclose them. Any discrepancy, intentional or not, may disqualify you. This goes for criminal history as well.

I believe the test is all ready comprehension, with the exception of the new oral assessments added to this test. If you can read and comprehend commandsbin the english language, you should be good to go.

Thanks brotha, yea I was arrested when I was 16 years old for smoking pot with my friends.. I received a 6 month ACD "adjournment in contemplation of Dismissal" and my record was cleared and then sealed because I was a minor, I don't mind mentioning that just in case, and the DMV will provide me with any traffic violation that caused points in the mail soon.. I def will be truthful, I'm glad the car accidents aren't an issue since they were just regular fender benders... and if the test is reading comprehension strictly then it's not an issue at all since my job involves reading comprehension on a daily basis. I appreciate all the help and information.

  10. Hey guys, I'm new here.. I've actually been waiting for a long time now for the TO test to come up, I applied last week with no issues thankfully... I do have a few questions for those who are knowledgeable with the upcoming test... I know the test and call ups will not be for a while but in the mean time I would like to have all my documents (ducks in order). I've had a valid NYS drives license since I was 17 (35 now), so not an issue and I've been employed by the same company/employer for over 15 years... so that's fine, I have a NYC GED as well... I sent a request to the DMV for my "lifetime abstract driving record" ... I've been driving for almost 20 years, many years ago I remember getting a speeding ticket and a few times been given a ticket for failure to stop at a stop sign and also running a red light violation, of course many years ago when I was a teenager and in my 20's. Will this be an issue with the requirements?

Also I've had some car accidents, now... I've never been summoned or gotten any traffic violations durning any of the car accidents I've had. I mean I've been rear ended more times than I can remember since I started driving here in Brooklyn, I've also been hit by a drunk driver, I've lost control of my Volkswagen in 2012 and totaled the car against a guard rail but never hit anyone and most of my insurance claims have been for my own car and no liability issues, would this be a problem with the requirements?

And finally I was thinking about buying a Train Operator Pass Book on Amazon, I've read and heard some very mixed reviews on this book, some People say don't waste your money and others swear by them, anyone have info or opinions on this book??
