  1. I'm staying at a place along the QBL @ a local stop near the end of April this year, so I'll be riding the (M) & (R) trains.

Looks like I'll have a chance of riding the same R160s that I rode on the (N) back when I stayed in Bensonhurst on my summer trips in 2016-2018. :)

  2. In all honesty, I actually do like riding the R46s when I take a long weekend trip to New York.  They are my favorite SMEE train.  I love that they have those seats that face forward or back so I don't have to twist my neck around to look out the window.  Only the R46s & R68/As have seats that face perpendicular to the windows.  I kinda like the retro style to the interiors, as they resemble some of the interiors on MBTA's older Orange line trains or WMATA's 1980s rolling stock.  I like the color coded route indicators on the front(also found on R68/As & R62/As).  I rode an R46 without pants during the No pants subway ride in January 2018 on the (R).  I enjoyed riding the R46s on the (A) with a few R179 (A) trains when I stayed in the Rockaways last summer.  I will likely miss them once they are gone.  That said, I can relate to darkstar's situation when it comes to the R32s.  I would let an R32 pass on the (A) or (C) just to wait to catch an R46, R160, or R179 on the IND 8th ave line.  I was in no rush, just didn't care to ride an R32.

  3. I had a great time riding the Subway in the previous 5 days to get me where I needed in the Big Apple.  I was able to catch an R179 on the (A) on three different occasions in my long weekend trip.  I enjoyed taking those awesome trains back to the Rockaways where I stayed.  I even rode a few R179s on the (C).  Keep up the great work MTA.  I'll be back for another vacation next spring, but I might stay on the QBL.

    Yes, 3-4 total

you'll have a better chance looking for it at Rockaway Blvd to avoid longer waits. If by any chance that  is Far Rockaway bound from the countdown clocks, then you'll have a sweet ride along the bay.

I look forward to it.  I come up for a vacation next weekend.  The weather says sunshine & upper 80s too.  I'll definitely get some beach time as well.  Thanks for letting me know.  I could also take the Rockaway Park (S) to Rockaway Blvd on the weekends.

  5. Yes!  Does that mean there will be 4 R179s running on the (A) by next weekend?  I'm flying into JFK & staying near Beach-44th Street til Wednesday.  I hope to catch a 10-car R179 during my trip at least once.  I'm also fine with riding R46 (A) trains otherwise.  I love looking out over Jamaica Bay between the Hammels Wye & Howard Beach without twisting my neck too much.

  6. I hope to catch an R179 on the (A) when I make my next trip to New York either in June or July.  I enjoyed riding one last summer on the (J).  I'm planning to stay in the Rockaways when I return.  I'm fine with catching an R46 on the (A) as well because I like their seats where you sit by the window without twisting your neck around to look outside.

Now that Cuomo prevented a fulltime shutdown, hopefully the TA tells Bombardier to start building some 5 car 179 sets instead of waiting until all the 4 car sets are finished.

This probably won't happen, but I'd love for 3010-3019 to start out their revenue service life's on the Rock Park rush hour specials. One trip uptown, lay up at 207th all day then go back to Rock Park in the PM Rush. Nice and easy workload to see if their fit for passenger service. If they do these runs problem free then put an on the regular (A) .

Also it would be super easy to find😁

    That would be awesome!

I'm planning to stay in the Rockaways this June, and I would love to catch an R179 on the (A) during the AM or PM rush.
