BTW, I was on that same train you was on. It ran along side that NIS R179 between 34th and West 4th street. That 179 going OOS left an HUGE gap in service, they had to sent an local along the Fulton street corridor.

ooh okay yea going to 207 makes more sense, and yea the  did leave a huge gap after that disruption.

Yes it was! I believe it was heading to ENY (most likely bc it's the closest Yard to fix R179s than Pitkin) after it went NIS.

Random but yesterday at 135th on the  I was about to get on board on a R179 on the  and it casually went out of service due to "malfunctions" and I was confused as to where the problem was but we all got off and waited for the following train afterwards.. the irony when I got on the  express and met up with the NIS R179 at 14th Street.

oh yes true true, they're still on that. plus with the delay of the R211s I for sure know for a fact they won't start yet.

this is random but I know this is the correct thread, when would 8th avenue CBTC start? there has been so much construction this part weekend I'm thinking it's for CBTC. I'm probably certain it's delayed and such.

I feel like they added all the R179s on 8th avenue again because this weekend has been rolling them all out on the and , also caught a few random R160s both Alstom and Siemens ones. Would they have sent the ones that belonged to the  back or at least to either pitkin or CI yards?

when I was out yesterday around 4-5 R179s hit the A line (I was on one myself), one on the C and like 2-3 on the J. I wonder how long before we get issues again.

I'm assuming due to corona that the delivery of the test train will be delayed considering it's the middle of July lol.

They should. I don’t know if they had it installed the last time the  ran up CPW. 

They installed that program for the weekends it ran along CPW, it features the new woman that announces the M14SBS transfers

I rode a R46  train today, and yes it had the diamond symbol that's why I used it here lol. 

considering that so far 30 cars have been built so far, I'm assuming they're all standard trains?

not someone having a meltdown over a FLEET SWAP..... as long as the train works fine why does it matter 

I want to say that the newer 10 car sets are making debut during the morning rush, yesterday I was on 3020-3029 and this morning I saw 3030-3039

I honestly like the current fleet swap, at first it was like uhh okay but now I'm already used to the   using old fleet again. they'll be upgraded again soon anyway, or so I hope.

ah okay, I thought it was the usual door bs that's been going on. 

Today I was on a R179 on the  and car 3257 didn't open... at all. So everyone had to crowd in nearby cars including the one I was in (3256), I wasn't aware what were the last 5 car #s. I even tweeted the MTA twitter and to my surprised I saw the same set going southbound later on and I guess they addressed the issue lmao.. it made me think watch them be kicked out of service.. AGAIN

I noticed on some mornings they use a mix of R32s or R179s on the  and R46s and R179s on the (A). the 179s usually head uptown in the AM for both lines from what I've seen, except yesterday I noticed like 4-5 on the  and 3 on the (A).

it's funny you mention 10 cars because for the LONGEST time I thought they always had 10. Then I found out they (and the R68/As) operate using 8 lol. I kept forgetting about the car lengths as well which is why it was kinda shocking for me.

now that you said R160 I already pictured the  and I got turned off. 

When I first found out about the new cars my first thought was that the  and  would get them bc they utilize R62/A... BUT seeing everyones comments about the busiest lines getting them FIRST makes much more sense. As I would love to see my home line (the ) getting the R262s, I would rather see the  saved first considering CBTC is also planned for the Lex. Avenue line. I just want the design process to be done to basically see an A division style R211 lol. 

How long before an actual train hits service? I've heard it's "two weeks" but yesterday I spotted 3298-3307 on the  after seeing it a month prior during testing.
