That said, coming down the grapevine, Transit will pause their hiring next month to have a better gauge on who doesn't pass schoolcar, quit, get fired, retired, etc. So I would count your lucky stars if you even get a pre-employment letter at all.

I feel like hiring slowed down around this time last year as well, though I could be remembering incorrectly. Has anyone heard anything solid about classes after the one that started on 10/3? I'm just finishing up my 30 days on the CPAP and was going to email them Thursday to make an appointment to come off hold.

The actual diagnosis of apnea wont disqualify you but they need to see you use the cpap machine

Did they tell you how many days? cause  for me they told me 30 days, thats what was written on my pmd request when I was placed on med hold.

After clearing my hold and getting sworn in I was told to make a follow up visit in two months to show them 60 days usage, so get 30 at least, make sure you use it every day

They didn't say, only to do the sleep study. I'll reach out to them and see what they say. Thanks.

  3. Hi everyone. My list number is 22xx and I requested to have my number restored in March. In early April I was invited to 180 Livingston for pre-employment, where I was out on medical hold for a sleep study. After jumping through hoops for a few months, I diagnosed with sleep apnea and received my cpap machine last week. Before I reach out to clear my hold, can anyone confirm how much data they want to see from the cpap? I've seen people say 30 days, 90 days and 100 days of data. Can anyone confirm if the diagnosis will disqualify me or what numbers they're specifically looking for before offering me a position?

  4. Just left Pre-employment. My lab tech told me they didn't need to see the original documents(ID, Social Security Card, etc.) and I found that very strange. I submitted the canvassing paperwork to a different tech, but mine was very rushed to get people in and out. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Pre employment is just paper work and drug testing, if you pass drug test they'll call you if they're up to your list number. The drug test is only good for 90 days so if they don't call you within the 90 days you'll have to another pre employment.

Thanks for the heads up. I know I am going to need to do a sleep study, so I'm trying to set one up so I don't wind up on a medical hold. What happens after that? Are you disqualified if you wind up needing a c-pap?

  6. Hi friends,

In keeping with the theme of decision-making in recent posts, I just reactivated my list number(22××) after deciding not to persue the job last spring. I got the email Friday morning confirming my name was reactivated. Where do I go from here? I dont want to be stuck in medical hold purgatory so I'm making an appointment with my PCP to refer a sleep study. Are there any other roadblocks I can anticipate and try to clear before being called for medical/drug testing? I have high blood pressure, but have been on medication for it for years. Would I need a letter from my doctor confirming my treatment?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

  7. Hey Guys.

I got the email asking me to come in for drug testing and to complete pre-employment on Tuesday. My list number is under 2300 and I'd expect to be offered a spot in either the class at the end of May or the very next one. Is there a way to defer my appointment without a medical hold? I haven't gotten my drivers license yet, nor can I confirm I would pass the test(THC). I have been waiting on another opportunity at the hospital I work at that pays better and I expected to be called later in the year, so I could sort out my license and flush my system. I realize I probably sound like a goon, sorry if thats the case. I'm having a little anxiety about leaving my hospital. Ive usually despised any job Ive ever had to leave.

this week was the deadline for pre employment for those that got a canvass email, has anyone got any follow up email for the next steps ?

I got called the first week of January for canvassing and I received another call this week. I imagine they'll reach out with a new email.

For the second link, after you type "06601" in the search box, you are going by the certification sequence numbers in ascending order (1, 2, 3, 4, etc.). Therefore, with the fact that, according to the website, there are 200 vacancies, "ideally" the first 200 candidates, according to the certification sequence number will get called. Now, as you know, there will be "issues" within the 200 candidates, between not each and every person responding to the canvass and/or showing up, between people testing positive for drugs, between people being placed on "medical hold," etc. Therefore, if your certification sequence number is in the 200 - 300 range, I would expect to hear from the agency soon. If your certification sequence number is in between 300 - 400, whether you hear from the agency or not depends on what happens with the people who have a smaller list number than you.

In addition, according to the website, about 20 people (give/take a few) decided to restore their name to the list. These folks should have no "issues" since your list number remains the same during the entire process.

    Good luck!!

I'm a little confused. When I look at the certification page, my name appears 6 times with varrying dates attached to it. I see ghe most recent one that expires today, but my paperwork was submitted and I'm closer to 2300 so I expect to wait a little longer.  Just looking for some clarification on how yhe certification site works. Thanks.

I'm 48XX. Eventually they'll reach our numbers it's just gonna take some time. I doubt they'll come out with another C/R exam for a while and instead opt to extend this list maybe once or twice.

I think earlier in the thread its been mentioned that the last test was extended ten years. Don't give up.

First of all, welcome to the Forums and thanks for registering as a member!

Second, I would initially send the documentation without the GED. Depending on how many other people who have a list number which is lower than yours responds to the canvass, chances are they will send you a reply stating that they can not continue until you either locate or obtain a duplicate copy of your GED. However, there is a chance that you might get "lucky" as far as the timing is concerned. If not, worse comes to worse, they'll just ask you to restore your name to the list.

What's good though about restoring your name to the list is that this is a "Civil Service" examination in which your list number stays the same, in addition to the fact that the agency is required to go in list number order to fill the vacancies. As a result, when the agency sends out the next canvass email, you will have priority over those who have a higher list number, including myself, since my list number for this particular examination is in the 4700's.

    Good luck!!

Thanks! I wish I would have seen this sooner. I didn't catch the notification until just now. I'm going to submit the paperwork without the GED if push comes to shove, but I left a voicemail with Emma Marie Rivera just in case to try and get a firmer answer.

Thanks for the welcome and the assistance!

  12. Hi everyone,

I followed this thread for a few years periodically but just before the pandemic I began to give up hoping they'd call me. Friday night I got a phone call and the canvassing email. I'm going to respond but I have a conundrum - I can't find my GED anywhere. The turnaround for a new copy is 6-8 weeks and I havento respond with the paperwork by Wednesday. Is there someone I can call to explain the situation? If I send the documents without the GED, will someone reach out to me? I'd hate to lose this opportunity after all this time over something so trivial.

    Thanks in advance.
