ok so they not rehiring me due to this 471 rule how can you challenge this and just how can this affect me when i pass the train operator test like this make no sence I have contacted a civil service lawyer and just waiting for their responce
Your best bet would be to hire a civil service lawyer to scare them, but that would be a very chaotic process to go through.

When is the next track worker exam coming out?

that does kinda depend on their needs. Like, Myself, Comrade 96 and a few other members of the site, we took the tests back 8 years ago. they didn't get to us for several years, but obviously we were affected by the pandemic... in your case... you might be sooner rather than later.
The MTA did a mass hiring push in the first few years of the 2000s... and those guys are going to be "putting in their papers" soon. We are going to need bodies by the truck load... again... So if you did really well, and you meet their criteria, and you don't get hung up like I did with getting a CPAP machine... 3-5 years, you'll walking into PS 248 for you first day.
What is CPAP machine?

that simply isnt true, people are being called right now that have scored between 90-95
Below 90 though I would agree
Shit… I’m already panicking

nah, a lot of people will but not everybody
I’m scared now because that means if you score under 95, you have no shot at getting called.

I'm sorry you went through that 2ride, and I can't really speak on the discriminating against applicants but neither Metro North nor LIRR (or Transit for that matter) handle the hiring process anymore, the BSC mostly does. And to that end, the BSC is pretty bad collectively in getting things done right or on time. A couple months back I took the LE exam for Metro North, and a couple of applicants got screwed over by the BSC because they weren't sent the LE Key Responsibilities form, a form that we all needed to complete to be able to continue on with the process. They also failed to send it to me initially but I was able to put constant pressure on them via a barrage of emails and phone calls until they sent it to me prior to the exam. Some of my fellow test takers weren't so fortunate...
Maybe if they made mnrr and LIRR civil service, no one would have to go through this problem. The playing field becomes more fair.

End to end it can take 6 to 8 months to complete the hiring process. From "conditional offer" to start date can take 3 months. Background & Investigations can take 2 months. HR is many times inclined to not be in contact with candidates if there's nothing to report to them about. If you are "in process" you are at the point of awaiting a "conditional offer", if it comes the process continues if it doesn't then you didn't land the gig. Nothing on the portal interms of "status" is relevant. What you are awaiting is a possibility of an offer. The hiring process is long, tedious, drawn out & at times without communication. So while you may think they have abandoned you, they may return back when you are next up for action. Stay patient & don't think it happens it any time efficiency.
Alu, which MTA division do you work for?

Sometimes I wish everything else aside from NYCT was civil service. It would probably even the playing/hiring field better, a balance of power between the candidates and HR.

I agree with everything said thus far, but I will say if you had your heart set on working for Metro North, don't just apply for conductor just "get your foot into the door" by any means and make your way there as an internal. It's cliche, but your odds of becoming a conductor are increased by breaking in as a coach cleaner, custodian, clerk, ticket seller, ambassador, electrician etc. Heck, don't limit yourself to just MNR for that matter, apply, apply, apply to as much as you can on that MTA Careers page.
Last time I took the test for custodian, the recruiter was suppose to schedule an interview with me as it was part of our process, but she never did even though I sent her many emails about it and she kept forgetting. She started doing her job once I put in a BSC complaint. These people who don’t work in transit don’t really have a good history of not discriminating their applicants.

As per the guidelines, if you can please stay on-topic, it would be appreciated. If NOT, disciplinary action will be coming.
Thank you @2ride!!
If you keep threatening me like that but don’t enforce the site policies on other members too, I’m reporting you to the site admins.

Bingo never put all of ones eggs in one basket especially with anything transit related...
Yes, especially the fact that railroads have a moronic communication system, they ain’t easy to deal with

You should’ve at least applied for NYCT conductor and station agent. Therefore you would have somewhere to go later on. You shouldn’t have rested your whole hands just on MNRR or LIRR.

youll be retired by the time transit actually fully gets around to doing that
Anybody who becomes a conductor needs to be able to know how to do the job; if someone sucks at the job, they can fire that person.

thats pretty much how all of the OC conductor exams are, theyll almost never ask for work experience
they didnt ask for any the last exam either
I wonder where they’re going to place station agents or conductors once they computerize/AI stuff on the job. I hope we aren’t going to get layed off or anything.

Uhhhh, me, I got a 95 on the previous conductor OC
Plus theyre in the 11-12k range for the old test right now and most of those people fit into that range you just described
Scoring higher increases your chances of getting called/called earlier but the other metric they use is when you sent in the application for the test
They only asked for education credentials this time, nothing about work experience when I submitted it.

Not true, you do not have to score a 100 on the test although there are people who will. Average score is between a 80 and 95. To be fair if your in the top 8000 you have better chance of being called.
Someone said don’t score below 92.
Also, can you tell me the last time people who took the conductor test got called with scores of 80-95?

I know I'm late to the party, but was this exam for LIRR conductor or MTA conductor as in the subways?
MTA conductor

I think it’s easier to become a station agent than a conductor. It seems like conductor is the more popular job of the two and if you don’t score 100 on it, you can’t get the conductor position.

How does that work? I know there's a date noted when you can go and protest the question. Like do they go over every question asking if any objective the answer?
I would think so, but hopefully somebody here who has more experience than me on that can answer this.

Just took the test today. The only slight complain I have about the test is right after the time was up during the memorize portion of the test we had to wait about 5 minutes afterwards before we could start answering those questions. The test proctor took her time collecting the images we had to memorize and then wait until she was given the the queue to hand out the questions so we could start answering them. Wish we could just flip to the questions after the time was up and just put those images aside so the proctor could collect them while we started answering the questions. But besides that the test was very easy. A few questions seemed a bit tricky with either answer being right but i guess one answer was more correct that then other. Either way, can't wait for the proposed answer to see how I scored in the memorized portion of the test.
You can protest the questions with more than one right answers.
