My classmate looked at the absentee sheet sometime last year and saw her last name and first initial. She report to said location to realize that there’s ANOTHER person with the same last name and first initial. She ended up reporting to the wrong location. So another advice I have for everyone is always look at your pass number on the absentee sheet to make sure. You’ll never know when someone else can have the same name as you.

Lol happened to me when I first came out. Two different people with my initial and first name down here.

And bus operators too lol.  Answer key is out. I got a 95. I don't know how to calculate the seniority points. It wasn't a bad test.

Interesting thing is the proposed answer keys came out pretty fast. Does that mean we will get an established list quick ? And eventually appointments dates quick ?

Yeah test was pretty easy, basically an Open Competitive test. I hope we get a list quick, I know once they mail us our list number and score the appointments shouldn't be far. TSS and supt's are saying the process will be quick but we'll see.

To build on what Goliver said… this isn’t a job…

this is a career. This is a responsibility you NEED TO TAKE SERIOUSLY.

Over the course of my probation… I was NEVER late. Not once. I only called out sick once, and that was for Covid, which is, or at least was at the time, off in its own little corner of the rules.

Unless something had gone wrong, I was always 15 minutes early for my reporting time. Some times even earlier.

Partly because I knew where I was going… a few of my classmates eventually got lost. One went to Ditmas instead of Ditmars. Another went to the wrong Bay Parkway. Told they had a Delta job… went to Bay Parkway Sea Beach.

Still can't believe that happened lol

They are not getting anymore money from me. I am good. They took the $25 knowing we weren’t going to get called. It should have been free

I mean what's $25 for you to potentially get a pension? I personally think it's worth the money you spend to try and get this career.

Morning all just a quick question i just did my drug test recently what email should i look out for in terms of next steps the same as the drug test or will it be someone else? Thanks in advance!

You'll get an email for medical and if you pass that you're basically hired. Or you can get another email for pre employment. (Yes it's normal to do 2-3 more pre-employments/drug test before you get hired)

I have a quick question. I just did my drug test this week. They’re having a class beginning the last week of September. What are the odds that they’ll call me for that class? this is my second time doing the drug test and will need to complete another medical as well because my first one expired. The problem is I may be going out of the country until the end of this month. The person I spoke to said they’re looking to fill slots for that class so it’s a possibility they’ll call me back. Last time, I waited about a month and a half for a call back.

Don't miss out on this opportunity. I was out the country and got called for medical and I took a flight back to NY to take the test and took a flight back on vacation before class started. You miss out on this who knows when and if you'll get called again.

Yeah but imo, it's still just another saving accounts and you're only getting like 2% or so more than other savings accounts that I seen offered and they aren't restricting you from withdrawing. One positive thing that I do see is for people that be introduced into investing and having a "free" professional manage your portfolio which usually more likely ends up on the positive side.

BTW, does anyone have any good cargo pants for the job? Been looking for a pair but nothing seems to be of standards when it gets here..  Looking for something more on the tactical side in terms of pockets.. Everything I ordered was not the right material to qualify :(

You can choose where to invest your money with the 401k, so it can be way more then a savings account. There isn't matching mainly because we have a pension already. I would even do just 5% and leave it like that until you retire, you'll get a good penny when you're out of here. I personally do my own investments outside of the 401k as well (Dividends), but a 401 don't hurt.

Ah I’m assuming you can’t just leave if you be been there for 6-8 hours with no work.

Yeah basically, There's that rare chance where you fall to the board and clear it. Which means you sat for 8 hours and got paid for it. Or you can pick up a 1 trip job and sit for the last 3-4 hours. (It's not always like this but there are those good days when it happens)

How do you climb it?...and if you get hired you put in a class that it's possible to fail?

You always got to put 3 points of contact on the train (Ex. 2 hands 1 foot). There's a small step you use to start your climb in the front or rear of the train. And yes it's 100% possible to fail but it's hard to if you put in the work. They want you to pass and will do anything to get you the job, you just need to do your part and study.

I got you thanks! Whats the average amount of hours new hires t/o work if they don’t want overtime? Thanks again

Well overtime will be forced on you. As a new hire or XX, you will 100% be getting more then 40 hours a week because some jobs are more then 8 hours, or you fall to the board and sit for hours and pick up a whole job. They will never force you to work your days off though.

  11. It's good for 90 days, and it's possible after 90 days they might call you again cause it expired and they need another sample. So to answer your question it can take months, and 2-3 more urine samples.

I’m nervous about the climbing part..I’m on the short side, about 5ft..about how tall from the ground is that first step?

The TSS will let you step on the rail to give you a "boost" but the B division trains are higher then the A. If you're in the B division and can't climb the train they'll give you a chance on the A. There are short people in transit so I'm sure you can do it!

You make the next class.  Or sign up for the next test in June. I think you'll keep a little seniority if that's any solace. The way I read it, every class is above the next in seniority, but if you were called for a previous class and didn't make it, you'll be senior to the people within your next class.

Unfortunately his seniority won't be saved at all. Had a classmate who got called in the 1000s years ago and needed to take a sleep apnea test as well. Long story short he was in my induction class and he had the same seniority has everybody else.

so you can get fired for having high blood pressure or diabetes?
If that's the case.....so much for job security!!!!!!!!

Oh btw......we do get paid for visiting the MAC right???

I literally worked with a T/O that has diabetes so I don't know what you think that lol.

Are there any particular backpacks you recommend? I start schoolcar in Jan and I wanted to prepare

Honestly I don't recommended the kaka bag but that's just me. You can actually bring any type of bookbag you want to school car. Just remember when you're walking the yard/crossing tracks you'll need to carry it by hand.

You did after the entire process was done? Because I didn’t get my score the day I went to do my pre-employment a week ago. I just did the drug test and handed in the pre-employment sheet they had me fill out.

Trust me when I say the OPA is the least of your worries. I took the OPA in 2017 and never received my score or cared about it and ended up getting hired 5 years later lol. Like Milano said if you speak English you passed.

I would but I dont wanna go to the bottom of the XX List afterwards

that A 292 looks tempting tho

You only get bumped down if the person comes back within a certain time. It doesn't happen often but yes there's still a chance for it to happen. Unfortunately my bid ends this Saturday but my XX # went from 348 to 153 while on this bid so hopefully better XX jobs to come.
