If I remember correctly while doing the process for Corrections, during the medical I filled a questionnaire, and one of the questions  asked was if I was ever placed on medical hold, or medically disqualified from any other state city or Fed agency. I’m sure NYPD and all law enforcement agencies have the same criteria and will investigate what happened with the process.
I recommend finishing the medical process so you don’t have any issues in the future. Plus you’re so close to getting the job it looks like you’re like 97% done. just turning around and undoing all the hard work and potentially causing trouble in the future it’s not worth it in my opinion, but what do I know.

With all due respect i've been hearing that nonsense for the past 3 months. I cleared my medical hold back in June, name restored to list. Since then did 2 medicals and 2 drug tests. I've been to this place 9 times since starting this process back in February, 9 times. Each time i go is about $20 or more in parking. So far i had to call out from work 3 of those 9 times. I'm in the hole $1500 dollars from paying for my own sleep study and sleep apnea machine. Every time you go to this damn place it's something else, it's always something.

Have you considered complaining about this? If so, send me a Private Message (PM) and we will take it from there...

    Interesting...

It's ok. I moved on with my life. These people at Livingston literally turned this process into a nightmare for me. From what i heard it's way easier to get a gun and badge than it is to become a bus driver in new york which is actually laughable. People down there absolutely do not care what they put people through with their process. Aint gon let them make me jump off a bridge.

  3. Starting to really think maybe this job is not meant for me. Every step of the way since February has been nothing but problems. From going for sleep study for sleep apnea, getting taken off the list. Clearing medical hold, back on the list. 2 drug tests, 2 medicals. Passed medical last week only to be told by the jackass doctor that i was short 1 day on my cpap machine and should use it a few more days and go in for yesterday only to have the company that does the report for the cpap machine service has been down since last wednesday (same day as medical) and i couldn't get the report to take to 180 yesterday and no one knows when the service will be back up. Starting to feel like the juice ain't worth the squeeze no more.

Hey y'all, I got a call today to go in tomorrow for day 2 final processing. A class is starting Sunday, June 4th and they're trying to fill it.

    Hopefully everything goes well tomorrow!!

And here it is i've been emailing my clearance for sleep apnea since last monday which was the only thing holding me back then got an email at 5 this morning claiming i should call DCAS to put my name back on the list. I called DCAS today and the lady told me i'm still active on the certification list. Email them again to let them know what DCAS said and a few minutes ago this is their response "

Please reach out to them next week

We have disposed and return the cert and there in the process of auditing the cert; there it's indicating that your name is still in the cert."  Whatever the hell that means.

I swear this is working my last damn nerves dealing with these people.

Oh great!!.One step closer to your new career..if you don't mind me asking, where is this sleep Doctor located?....did you have to pay out of pocket or your insurance covered it?...How long did you have to wait to be cleared by sleep dr?

    Thanks in advance!

Hey. The place is called Sunrise Sleep Diagnostics located on Coney Island Avenue. Yes i had to pay out of pocket like $700 for the sleep study then when the home cpap machine was ordered i paid another $400 now going forward insurance takes care of the rest. Today made 29 straight days on the machine. The machine has an app that you can track how well you did the night the before. All the data is stored in the app and you can send it to the Dr to review to see if you've met compliance and then he'll clear you.

I’m also waiting to be called from the 2611 exam list #500’s. I called the dcas number today and the automated system is stating my social security number is not on file. Is anyone else experiencing the same issue? Hopefully it is just a system glitch

I'm list# 39X, got called for final processing in March but got caught up in this sleep apnea thing. Had to get sleep study done and now i have been on the home CPAP machine for about 3 weeks and got a couple more  weeks to go to submit results to transit to continue hiring process. During sleep test Dr told me i stopped breathing around 36 times per hour now with the home machine i'm about 1 to 0.5 times per hour.

  7. Completed sleep apnea test Wednesday night, just waiting on the results. Sleep tech told me as he was removing all those darn wires that i shouldn't have anything to worry about which could only mean that i either don't have sleep apnea or it is minor. Transit doctor only wanted Cpap test results if it's moderate to severe. Hopefully can submit all this in time for the next class, medical hold was the only thing holding me back.

Did you look into one of those overnight machines. They mail it to your house and you connect it before bed. You get the results in a couple days. It’s a lot cheaper.

I did but i wanted to just get this over with asap. Everything went well at 180 Livingston and my neck size was the only setback. I was supposed to be in tomorrows class and this pushed it back.

You have to have a good health insurance for this. I worked at another city agency at the time and did not pay a thing, but co-pay.

This might be a setback for people that don't have good insurance. Sleep apnea study is not cheap. Either that or focus on losing weight lol.

I found another place that is doing it for $700 and the good thing is they are used to dealing with Transit employees and scheduled for the same date, next Wednesday.  For anyone going through the same thing, the name of the place is called Sunset Sleep Diagnostics on Coney Island Avenue, Brooklyn.

  10. Lol. So i was scheduled to have my sleep apnea overnight test done next Wednesday the 15th. Today i get a text/email from the Doctor saying everything confirmed and what my deductible would be. This one night of test is over $17,000 and my deductible around $2,600. Are these people on Meth? I had to start calling around for other places that can do the study, found a place in Brooklyn called Sunset Sleep Diagnostics that booked me over the phone for next Wednesday night also and they were familiar with clearing folks for MTA pre-employment.

Don't worry no need to panic. Make sure you dr writes letter indicate that you don't have sleep apnea and you can drive NYCT Bus without any restrictions. Once determined that you are back with next class. If you do have might set back 3 to 6 months.

Well unfortunately this a hole wants me to see a specialist and everybody I called today booked up for months. Messed up cause the blood and sweat I put into studying for this exam and my cdl permit seems like waste now.
