Assistant conductor starting tomorrow for MNR and I just got the email. Does the LIRR share the same orientation as us?
I dunno, where is your orientation being held? Ours is at Hillside.

I've officially gotten the green light as well for 4/19. I'm still waiting on that email too from the MTA Business service center.
It came through just a few minutes ago for me.

The offer letter said we'd be getting a separate email with some new hire forms to fill out from the Business Service Center, did you guys get that email yet? I haven't seen it.

I got a half green light I received a email to go to medical the following day and then a offer letter followed indicating the 19th but mentioned it was pending medical an background so I will continue to wait and study patiently. This has been such a anxious process because I want it so bad but hopefully I’m almost at the finish line.
Ahh I see, well fingers crossed they'll get the process cleared for you soon!! I got a phone call telling me that I passed background and medical and that I'm confirmed for the April 19th class. She told me I'd get a formal offer letter this week, but I haven't gotten it yet so far. I'm learning that they aren't exactly the fastest with the paperwork, but the best thing you can do is keep studying and submit everything they ask for asap. Hopefully I'll see you in class next week!

Has anyone gotten the official green light for the April 19th class yet? Hoping to give my current job a full two week's notice, but I haven't heard anything from them yet.

How was the experience at the overview? What time did it start and end?
Well, the overview started pretty much at 8:00am on the dot, so you'll wanna get there early. A couple people trickled in late, but I don't think you wanna be that person. One of the instructors for the A/C program spent some time talking about the job, the benefits, what the day to day experience is like. He took a bunch of questions and was pretty straightforward with his answers, though they didn't have answers for stuff that's specifically HR related. After that he explained the format of the S&D exam. You'll hear the words "verbatim" and the phrase "99% right is 100% wrong" a lot. Then they handed out the study materials and we went over every page. He gave us some study tips throughout and really drove home how you're gonna need to dedicate a lot of time to it during the five weeks if you want to pass. By around 11:45 we were finished and released for the day.

Just left the S&D Overview. The instructor said they have classes picking up in April, June, and August for those curious. I'm off to study, see y'all in 5 weeks!

Yes, just make sure you're on-time. They might lock the doors on you if you're late.
Great, thanks! Absolutely, I'm planning to arrive at least 30 minutes early.

Just got my invite to the S&D Overview on the 4th! Does anybody know if we'll be able to get off at the HSF stop on the day of?

Is the S&D Overview always held on a Saturday or can it be any day of the week?

Understood, thank you very much for the info! I went out and got my suit pressed just in case but khakis and a button down would be much more comfortable! I definitely wouldn't want to show up under dressed, but there's a such thing as being over dressed too, I'm glad I asked ahead of time!

Hey everyone! I've been lurking for a while, but I finally got an invite to the open house for A/C on Jan. 23rd. I'm really excited to get the process started! This might seem like a silly question, but this is an entirely new industry for me and I want to make sure I have all my ducks in a row. What is the dress code for the open house? I'm assuming that it's a given that jeans and sneakers are out, but what level of formality is expected? Suit and tie, khakis and polo, something in-between? Any insight you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!

There's no link, the company will email you if/when they need anything from you. If you want to be ahead of the curve, I recommend pulling together any pay stubs you can from your previous jobs. They'll want one each from your first and last year at each job that they can't otherwise verify. W-2's should work as well.
