I'm not sure how much they will charge tbh with you, go to your local court downtown and it probably shouldn't be much at all. If the case is sealed and isn't like some felony or some 1st degree murder you should be fine, but if you rather exercise on the side of caution then go downtown and get one just in case.

Oh it was nothing serious. I remember it being dismissed. I believe it’s sealed but I’ll call tmrw to double check. Rather not take a day off from work to get go to the courts if it can be avoided. Ty

Don’t know but get it anyway ! Also anyone who is coming to do their medical or if you have EVER been arrested for any reason before you MUST BRING IN YOUR DESPOSITION ! Had to go to the Bronx Supreme Court to get an original copy and had to go back to give it in !  So heads up !

How much does the courts charge for it ?

If your case has been sealed you dont need to bring in anything, it's written in the paperwork you've signed during pre employment. And in terms of medical issues if you can get a note from your doctor before the medical then get one, also if you have anything that won't be discovered during the medical then don't mention. (Obviously use your discretion I'm not liable for anything) But like the person who wrote they snored that could have been not mentioned and could have not be resulted in a being on medical hold. Sometimes being too honest with certain things isn't best just some food for thought for anybody going to their medical soon for the May 8th class.

I got arrested when I was a minor. I believe the case should be sealed. But if they require me to bring the disposition do you know how much the courts charges for it? Thank you

Know if we gotta get the documents if we got arrested as a minor? It’s been over 20 years I don’t know even remember which precinct or court 🤣🤣🤣

Hello all 40xx here, after being placed on medical hold and having my medical hold cleared last year in June. My name fell off the decas list so they could not proceed with my hiring process and was told that I had to wait until they get the new list from decas. Got a call on 3/10 telling me to come in on march 20th for drug test then I got an email to come in on march 31 for final processing. After a few hours there I have been appointed for train operator and class starts on April 10th. Anyone can tell me what to expect on the first day of class?

Lmk how it is … Im still considering whether to try this position or not. Thank you

That's not the energy you need to be having. I believe there may be a possibility.

To my knowledge their approaching the 4000's ....we are in April and this list expires January 2024. There are many people that changes phone numbers, don't check emails, don't pass drug test, passed away, not interested in the job anymore because they got something else and numerous other reasons. In theeantime, you should be preparing yourself getting the proper documents you need, (work history, dispositions, etc.

Unlike a few of us that were unaware of these things, I had to wait last minute to obtain these items.

Have patience, have faith and say your prayers. I believe they'll get to that number very soon. Trackworkers are in high demand. Hope this helps. Peace.

Thank you. I didn’t know they were up to 40xx. I thought they were at 36xx-38xx

Pkk obviously everyone understands the sacrifices we must make to enter the kingdom!! And it's not for everybody obviously!!! Transit doesn't care it seems where you are living, and they've certainly got 1000s of people literally who will gladly make those sacrifices to be financially secured along with amazing benefits!!

And truly pkk if there just now offering you the OPA I wouldn't even give transit your 25$ bucks.. if your list 9000s+ your chances are very very slim to make It in.. there's only 10 months left with 1800+ people before you to be canvassed and god only knows how many people restored there names back to the list..

    im list 71##

    And still waiting 💀

But good luck man and yea there will be sacrifices.. I live in Central Connecticut and will gladly ride metro north down everyday if I must !!!!

Yeah this is def not for everyone. Lots of people thought this was a fantastic when we first took the exams years ago. Now they’re calling people all these years later. People going in with different mindsets compared to years ago and end up quitting. This forum gives good insight on what to expect. I was thinking bout skipping the opa. It might be dumb to skip it but realistically speaking I dont think imma get called at 99xx. Better off for me to take next exam if I still wanna do it.

Some people love it. Brings a lot of overtime sometimes, and you get to see something different everyday.

Yup I know a lot of people who love overtime. But there are also that prefer 8hrs and spend time with their family. Different mindset at different age

You may work a job on the D line at Bedford Park today making two round trips and then tomorrow, you can work on the Q line at Coney Island doing three round trips.

Each day can be different with different reporting times and location.

Wow that’s rough . Respect to all of you that went through it

First of all you have your division. A or B. A division is the number trains, B division is the letter trains. Within that division you could go anywhere. You can start at Bedford Park boulevard in the Bronx today, and Coney Island stillwell avenue tomorrow. As extra extra, you're covering the people that are covering the people who book off. There's actually jobs specifically picked to cover people's days off, (RDO relief ) and people's vacations... (Vacation relief) Then you have extra list who covers unexpected absences. Then you have extra extra who covers the unexpected absences of the people who cover the unexpected absences, pretty much.

Some places have employee parking. Most don't. The vest in the window is frowned upon by the MTA officially and that's all I'll really say about it publicly.

You'll have plenty of down time.  If you really need a bathroom break You can request one on the radio, stop your train and run for a bathroom. Just try to remember where the bathrooms are when you ask. Most station agents will give you their key to use their restroom, hopefully all you have to do is run right to one of them near your train rather than go upstairs and run a half a mile to a bathroom... Lol.  You will usually have 20 to 30 minutes minimum before your next train leaves. Sometime you only have 8 minutes, sometime you stay on the train and go right back out... But if you pick up the radio and call the dispatcher and say I need a "comfort" then you can have a moment to run to the restroom. Everyone's been where we are and some of them actually remember where they came from.

When you say I can start at the Bronx today and Coney Island tmrw, do I sign in at the Bronx first then travel to Coney Island? Or do I report directly to Coney Island the next day then sign in?

Thank you all very much the quick and honest replies. Which job is more stressful t/o or conductor? I know t/o are paid more than conductors. But sometimes money isn’t everything. My frds have frds or family who got t/o and conductor positions lately and all quit due the scheduling and other stuff you mentioned. Trying to get to know all the negative side of the job before I decide to jump into it. Once again very much appreciate it.

Yes you will.be thrown around all of nyc until you can pick a job

overtime is not mandatory but some jobs are naturally longer than 8 hours

40 a week guaranteed hours but there will be times you average more than that

Can you give me a few examples of where new hires get toss around? Is there employee parking?  If it’s street parking do you put the vest in the dash and just leave it in the streets? What’s the avg time before new hires can pick their work locations? Are there breaks in between the jobs to use the restroom? Thank you I appreciate it.

Well we've got zero deductible zero coinsurance  zero copay. Actually, there's a $100 copay for ER visit. That's about it. I feel a lot better with the pension, even though it's tier 6.. because our government seems to change their mind every 6 years what they want to do with our social security money.

That's definitely a rough cut on your pay, but you will get a lot of overtime here If you need to catch up.

Does your current job have good paths for promotion?

You want to play a little game to see how it would be? Take the cut in pay out of your current paychecks. Put it aside and don't use it. Stick it in savings. See how it is to live on about $900 take home a week.

What’s the starting pay for conductor? Do the new hires get thrown around all of nyc for the first few years? Work night and weekends? Is overtime mandatory? What’s the typical amount of hours a new hire conductor? Thank you

I’m #60xx and I went in on 11/17 for pre employment. I hope I don’t have to go back for  pre employment 3 times but I will if I have to. We will be in there soon. Good luck!

Yes update me if you can when they call you for 2nd time. I’m guessing I have a month time difference from you to make up my mind whether or not I should quit my current job and go for this

Where in NJ?  I'm in the same boat as you, close to the city right over the Hudson in WNY, NJ.    I have to report for my OPA on the 17th after waiting 8 years so I've got a lot of thinking to do.  If I was single with no kids I wouldn't think twice about it.

As far as accommodations I highly doubt it.  The MTA is very punctual when it comes to time since the entire system revolves around it.

I’m on the same boat as you. I have my opa on 4/20. It’s been so long since I took this exam now I have think if I should quit my current job to give this a shot. This will be def be rough from 3-5 years but pension will nice. 8 years ago I would’ve taken it but now I have to think
