Hey quick question, did they email you to inform you that you didn’t pass the interview? I did my interview two weeks ago and currently waiting for a response. Kinda nervous I might’ve bombed it

I am in the same boat lol. Had it july 10th, have emailed HR twice but no response. I felt like I answered with safety and customer service in mind.

Damn, it's been almost 5 months since my interview. Has anyone applied for any other positions like assistant conductor trainee? I've applied to at least 20 different jobs and only got called to test and interview for one.

Been waiting 2 weeks for a response from MNRR about my interview for Conductor.

being anxious is normal. But the fact it was a zoom interview really helped. You really don't even have to look at them. Just look at like the corner of your screen or something i was looking at my recycle bin app lol. Practice in the mirror rehearse. Being prepared to answer the questions really helped me too

Just had my interview, only went about 30 min, she did tell me classes start august, id have a yes or no email this week. I think I answered questions well enough with safety and customer service in mind.

bro go look up youtube videos and nail this interview. you will have benefits for life with double pension at retirement all while making 6 figures your whole career. if you really grinded you could make 6 figures first year dont worry about the pay rate NAIL THAT INTERVIEW

Not gonna lie im a bit anxious for it. Going to listen carefully to their questions.

i believe its 6 years till top pay once you begin. Also becoming conductor is mandatory promotion at 12 months. You gotta pass the test to become a conductor

How does this work? I know 6 years is top rate but at 12 months you become a conductor, so shouldnt your pay change?

try to memorize the duties of assistant conductor. They're gonna ask you to name them. Talk about  a time in your past job where you went above and beyond. what would you do if a co worker wasn't in uniform?( say you'll pull them to the side and speak with them ask them what's going on because you are a TEAM could also say if they're not cooperating then you would have to speak to upper management). talk about a time when you dealt with a bad customer? deescalate as much as you can never fight never yell.  What is good customer service to you? its basically questions about customer service. how you would handle certain situations. how you achieved goals in your last job or how did you help improve your last job. Theyre gonna ask what you know about metro north . you can say you've rode the train you can say theyre responsible for moving millions of people around the new york city area. try to remember the 3 lines and some stops on there (hudson, harlem ,new haven lines)  do alittle research on them. my interview started at 8;30 am via zoom . 3 person panel. 2 others dont really speak they black there screens and listen but the hr woman will be asking questions. i finished around 9;10

you've been helpful! How has class been going for you?

niceeeeeeeeeee. you're in it brother. the ball starts rolling fast. you may have in interview within a month. I got my passing grade late December and my interview was in the beginning of January

What questions did they ask you?

@BloomSmall No problem I wish there were more metro north conductors on the forum to help out. It was something like 70-90 definitions. You didn't need to know them verbatim but it definitely helped. It was mostly multiple choice but you also had some where you had to match a word with a definition. But flashcards helped with getting them down verbatim. They give you 3 hours but I was out around 2.Everything you need to know is in the packet they send I believe there was 8 signals I had to memorize. I honestly didn't get a score so I don't know how scoring works. They just emailed me to tell me that I passed. But that packet they send is everything no tricks. Get those down and the test is really easy. They give you about 3 weeks to study. I believe the training is about a year between classroom and on the job training. Glad to answer any questions and help. Hope you are in the class behind me

How long did you wait for an interview? I got my passing result yesterday.

Addition, subtraction, multiplication. For addition, mainly adding multiple numbers in a single column and carrying over on top. Multiplication is probably with decimals and stuff.

Thanks you been a lot of help, have my test this saturday, know all definitions and signals so just seeing what else I should brush on.

It’s things like that test your common sense in regards to mechanical aspects. What does the temperature of an icy drink do if you set it outside on a hot summer day? Which was does a ladder slide if not propped up? If you sit on one side of the seesaw, which side goes up? Things like that.

What kind of math should I brush on?

The exam will be all multiple choice and some short-answer math. It will consist of 5 sections and you have to pass each one to result in a pass. First part is a mechanical aptitude (can't really study for it), next will be signals, math section (addition, subtraction, multiplication), and the last part is a personality test whether you agree with the statements or not and that will be the end of the exam. Sections 4 and 5 are the same thing just split into 2 sections.

    What kind of mechanical questions?
