Hey guys I have orientation this coming Monday. Does anyone know if we need to be in uniform for that? And any tips for School car? What type of bag I should get and things like that. Thanks in advance

Also to add on to the other person comment. In school car if you don't understand something or have any questions ask your TSS they are there to help. At first it will be a little overwhelming because everything is new but you will get it. Good luck 👍🏿

What is posting? I keep hearing about doing postings. I heard of it when I went into the MTA building. Just now sure what it is.

Posting is Trainsit way of saying shadowing. Posting is when you shadow someone that is a conductor for a day. Everyday you will be put on a different train line with a conductor that work on that specific train that way you get the feel of how it is to be an conductor for each train line and have a understanding of how each train line operate. Ask questions and take notes that why when you are on your own you aren't completely lost.

They can still reinstate themselves on DCAS and go from there. Wouldn't be the first time someone missed getting an email/letter/call. That said, people had been hired on the previous list that lasted for eight years so yea who knows.

On the other hand, we already have two promotional conductor exams and those people deserve to move up from their title as well.

Like I said if we don't work for Human Resources we need to stop with the misinformation or the what ifs. MTA know what they are doing. Covid and people retiring is two of the main reasons why the list is still going on. Too many people giving misinformation instead of just being positive and giving facts. I wish everyone the best of luck.

Wait some people were convinced to not take the OPA?! Oh my goodness that is crazy

Yeah because there were some people giving misinformation and some were discouraged especially those that got their OPA letter in late April and early May of last year. Some telling people it was a very slim chance they will get the job and they should just sign up for the next conductor exam smh. You would have thought these people work for HR or know someone personally in HR giving misinformation. All I know for now is that the list was extended to next year and I wish everyone good luck that are either in school car or is still waiting to be called.

6601 has been out for max numbers so they closed after some time cause now what going to is ask the remains list and ask them if they want to be cleaners called cta labor class i know people who already got this letter and phone call from MTA cause the list was closing

My guy you need to stop unless you work in HR for the MTA. You need to stop telling us these false statements.  If you look at past comment on this forum there has been people on here acting like they work for HR saying the same exact nonsense that you are saying end ended up look silly and also had some people not take the OPA making them losing out on a big opportunity. As far as I know and it says in bold letters in the letter that was mailed. If you got a letter from the MTA to take the OPA exam and you pass it, you will go through the process of drug screening and medical to be hired for the conductor position.

Thank you and thanks for the insight! I am kinda nervous about school car but I will focus and concentrate, I’m hearing most people have difficulties when it comes to the practical when “cutting out the doors”

I was in your shoes 2 months ago. You will be fine. At first it will be a little overwhelming because it's all new to you but trust me you will get it.  Just pay attention in school car and if you have any questions ask your TSS to repeat it again even if you feel like you are the only person in class who doesn't get it. Trust me, your TSS wants you to pass, but you also have to do your part also and put in the work good luck.

pre employment don't mean u get the job it first step in that way cause the something happened to me 5 yrs ago and was never called back for medical. so don't give up your day job yet  until u pass medical exam and u get your results via email

You don't need an email. They tell you if you pass medical  or you are on medical hold on the same day and also tell you that you are hired if you pass medical.

It not a weird question (trust me I was in your shoes).  On the day of drug screening you will be sent to the 5th floor. You will have to give them the forms they sent you via email that you filled out. They will let you know if  there is an area on the form that you forgot to fill out. From there you will sit and wait for them to call your name which will take hours. When they call your name they will take you to the back where there is a lab which they have another waiting area and you would have to wait there until they call your name to do the urine test. Once you are done with the urine test then you are done for the day. The next step will be just waiting for the email to come back for medical.

Might be a weird question lol. Are we suppose to go to a lab and get drug tested? I was just reading the email they sent out and Number 6 says the following.

    6.        Successful completion of a drug/alcohol laboratory examination. - I just want to make sure I have all my paper work and everything ready for them.

So chances are it can be the same day. Pre employment and medical

No pre employment and medical can't be done on the same day. There is so much to do that it practally take the whole day (7-8 hours each) Just remember to fill out the forms for pre employment and when you get the email to come back for medical make sure to fill out all form for that also. That way thing goes smoothly. Also make sure you bring some snacks with you.

I was called today , also received a text message. In the text it said to follow the steps on the email and bring in paperwork but I am looking for the email and I did not receive it . Is there anything i can do i just want to make sure I’m ready

I had the same issue when they call, text and said they sent an email. I didn't see the email on the day they called and text me, but then I saw the email the following day around the afternoon time. When I went in for drug screening I found out that other people had the same issue and received the email the following day after the call and text. So wait until Saturday to see if you got the email.

I emailed them, they said my name is still on the list. I’m not sure exactly what does that mean. Also what number called you?

When they reach out to me about  the drug screening I was emailed, called and text by a (646) number. When they reached out to me about the medical I was got an email.

If it expires feb 14th will they have another class after January?

I think there should be a February class if the list expires in the middle of February. Also just my opinion I wouldn't think MTA HR would told people to take the OPA exam if there wasn't a chance to be called. When I read the letter they sent me when they told me I had to take the OPA exam they said in bold letter " If you pass the OPA you will immediately be processed for consideration for employment which includes a drug screening and medical exam" MTA HR is huge and I would think they wouldn't send a letter saying all that in bold letters if they knew you didn't bhave a chance.  Remember there are a lot of veterans retiring and other being promoted, so the MTA have to fill those conductor spots. Wish you the best

  14. I just took my medical today and got hired. My list # is 105XX. For those that have 11XXX there is still hope. In May I was debating should I take the OPA exam because there were people on this forum saying if we are taking the OPA in May that there was a very, very slim chance or no chance of getting the conductor position and just take the next conductor exam that comes available. I decided to take the OPA exam in May because i felt there was nothing to lose by doing that and on Oct 25th I got called to take the drug test. I would like to thank all those people in this forum that gave me hope through this long journey. I have read almost every comment on this forum to see what to look forward to and to see so many people moved on to become conductors. Congrats to everyone that got called and for everyone else there is still hope.
