I probably had that guy the other night. I think he was a Hispanic guy. Very rude and ghetto. He addressed me as "boss", which I was not pleased about. He may have meant well but "sir" is the appropriate way to address a grown man who is a passenger on your bus, with an excuse me included,  as I am not one of your damn home boys from the streets.  Learn proper etiquette. I hate when people take certain liberties that they don't have. You don't know me and I don't know you...

He clearly was not raised to understand how to conduct himself in a professional setting. I was this close to reporting him. I just looked at him, moved up a little so he could see his mirror and then dared him to say another word because I found his behavior overall unacceptable. He slammed the door in the face of an older Asian lady trying to board and then motioned for her to go to the middle of the bus and board there, but she originally thought he was trying to drive off and leave her. After that he started threatening to take the bus out of service yelling "y'all gotta move to the back!" over and over again like some kind of nut job. I said to myself who in the hell is this guy that he talks to people using such ghetto language? Loud and rude. No please or anything. Talking to us like we're idiots. Just another example of an (MTA) worker with no sort of etiquette or home training. This is exactly why I'm an advocate for higher standards for the job. Probably some high school drop-out.  You just don't speak to people that way in such a setting.

Not saying this operator is in the right because it seems there are better ways to say things, I do have to say though, the MTA no longer wants employees to say sir or ma’am, or ladies and gentlemen, it’s offensive now to say things like that. Employees have gotten in trouble for calling someone sir, when the person said they were female and made a big stink about it. Filed a complaint and everything. So while he still could have said it better, sir or ma’am or miss, out as far as what Transit employees can say.

  2. I have to chime in here because it's actually quite entertaining. First and foremost, with regards to off board payment, it's simple and quick. As someone who works for transit and saw everything first hand, easily the biggest issue is people waiting to see a bus before they get their ticket. Honestly, if a bus pulls up and you're not ready and the bus is, doors should close and you have to wait for the next bus.

Next, in regards to personal responisibility, again, from experience. Most people who complain about service reliability DO NOT allot themselves enough time. There is a lot the MTA is at fault for with regards to service delays but a lot of people don't allow proper travel time. This is NYC, a train gets held up for 10-20 seconds per stop for holding doors or whatever, that train will be late. For the example of someone living 15 mins away from their job, in Nyc, a lot of people will leave 20 mins to get to work. Maybe they make it 80% of the time, but how about you get down stairs and you get on the same train and now there is a sick customer? It doesn't change the further away you live, most people will plan their trip with them arriving 1 min before clocking in, that is what is wrong with the people and their lack of responsibility, and that is more the norm than anything else.

  3. That's because you are posting this at 12, but from the start of this to about 11:30, there was lots of ice that fell and no one really expected it. Lots of accidents around had many roads closed throughout the city. The GCP was closed for a while, 164th street in queens had an accident on hillside, gcp and Union tpke all at the same time.

This is a few weeks old now I don't remember when and what time never had an opportunity to post/ this but here we go. I saw an N24 pull into Jamaica terminal at 9:30, with a huge line of people standing everywhere and the supervisor came out of the bus. Next thing I know is a someone asked the n24 driver where the n22 is, they have been waiting an hour and no n22 or n24 bus has come. The driver said he is turning this bus into an N22 but it's hard because there was only 3 buses available for the 2 lines that day. The rest were broken. No spares? This is where the GPS system will really come in handy.

I didn't wait around to see what happened. Surely couldn't have been that bad.

I don't mean to sound rude but what is the issue with the QM15 above? I don't see anything wrong immediately.

Too many QM15's... They don't run that frequently to have that many running that closely together.

There is one qm15 running very late, the rest are far enough from each other that it could be normal if traffic was screwy. It's not the worst I've seen. Also you have to sometimes keep and eye on the two buses, I've seen the same exact bus number a couple of times but the icons were a few blocks apart. Probably a glitch and the bus was further ahead and the system was just stuck. So that 2nd bus going into the city could be the same bus. Or one is really late, which isn't out of the realm of possibilities.

Seems to me they are running a little late enough to show them 8 buses on the map.

Well its suppose to be 100% artic's but you may see a few standard buses in the mix. I know on the weekends you may see about 4 or 5 Orion VII's. I don't really know how it is on the weekdays.

I've seen days where there's about 3 to 4 Orions, and a rare RTS on it. There's always at least one non-articulated in the 24-hour weekday.

Take for instance today. Right now as of this very moment (11:00 A.M., Wednesday) there are 6 Orions and 1 RTS out of 17 buses on the Q10.

This morning on bustime I counted 10 standard sized buses and 9 artics on the q10.

  8. This was in the planning stages at one point.

    What scrapped this idea ?????

    It's the easier fix really

I also wonder why they haven't ran them on the Q60 yet ?

Is it something with the Bridge ?

Allow I spoke to one of my buddy's that drive for JFK and to my surprise they don't get any pay differential with the Artics smh

No bus operator should be paid a differential, it's stupid that they even do. Everybody who I know that drives an artic always laughs and says they pay him extra to do the same work...

The Q60 does not need artics.

  9. I had the opportunity to ride the q60 for a round trip in the am rush and a round trip during the pm rush and and I did not have a single moment when there weren't any seats. The q7 and q11 and q22 and 35 carry more than the q60 do during rush hour. The difference is the q60 picks up and drops off in batches. The ridership is very different along the entire line. The only time you really see high ridership on the q60 is if there is a delay in service. It has nothing to do with the service road, the turn onto the bridge, that's a myth.

  10. Why aren't they putting any on the Q60? Is it because of the turns south of Archer?

The Artics are mainly assigned to the Q10Ltd... They have been known to appear all routes EXCEPT the Q6.Q8.Q9.Q41.Q40 and Q60...

However the very first Artic to touch Queens was on the 113 in 2007... Just alil history lol

It's because the q60 ridership doesn't warrant artics, at least not full time.

He said last night, run 36 might have been back to the depot and done with the bus by the time it was seen on the bx36. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Not at all, that bus was out there for quite a long time yesterday on the 103.

I know I saw run 36 pull back in the depot around noon yesterday, do it probably went out with another run then.

    All updated, thanks everyone! https://sites.google.com/site/mtaregionalbusroster/home

All Xcelsiors that were in the vendor are replaced back in UP. Since buses usually return back to the depot they were sent to the vendor from, there's no need to track them. Is there any Xcelsiors besides 4899 that are out of service for the forseeable future? And also, what's the word on the MJQ bus that was involved in that unfortunate accident?Meant to mention, as reported by DannyBoy825, 500 is on loan at WF from SC. Seen on the Bx36 last night. Since I know that's gonna return back, it is not on the roster.

You might've seen 300, not 500. 500 was on the B103 yesterday with Run 36. 300 was on the Bx36.

    3299, 3402 and 3268 at College Point.

  13. So I was talking to a friend, his name and rank doesn't matter but he listed for me in order from best to worst MTA Bus depots as reflected by MDBF: Yonkers, Eastchester, Spring Creek, College Point Depot, JFK, Far Rock, LGA and last place is Baisley Park.

He said he would compile a list with MTA Bus and NYCT but he hasn't done that yet.

  14. You're putting too much stock into the depot aspect of it......

He's (Q23's) right in that - When service changes are posted, they don't have to be grouped into what depot they run out of.... But It's really not grouped into the type of changes they are either... If they could, they would put as many changes of a given route on that size paper (of the flyer) they could....

They tend to stick those flyers/notifications on buses in the borough where said change will take place, which makes sense..... You'll see more flyers of the changes of the sort on buses that directly serve those areas.... The thing with Queens is that, you'll see the MTABus route changes on MTABus routes & NYCT changes on NYCT routes.....

The posting of notifications on buses it's not a depot specific thing... It's a system-wide thing - Which is the way it should be.

In Queens the posters are posted on mta bus and NYCT buses. I'm sitting on an LGA bus and there is a poster for the b32. I was on the Q46 the other day and it had a poster about the q33, q70, and q72 changes .

  15. So I don't know if this is news but how does nice expect to have service increases? I had to go out to Nassau county yesterday and I swing by the terminal and there are 4 out of service buses and My n22 was running late. Then I see someone who works for there that I know and he tells me there are over 40 buses dead and awaiting maintenance help in their garden city facility. He says its such a big mess everyday. My n22 was only 10 mins late but we didnt get to roosevelt field mall because the bus broke down at mineola. This is so sad.

  16. So yesterday was a bad day for me and nice, I haven't been on a nice bus in months and I had to go to Roosevelt field, got to hillside ave and Francis Lewis at 2:10, the first and only n22 showed up at 3:30, one n24 showed up but it broke down. Next, well, simultaneously, from 2:30 to 3:10 there were no n6 buses, the line stretched from the corner to all the way passed the n22 stop. When the bus finally got there somehow I squeezed in and we didn't stop till new Hyde park, the look of pissed off people as we flew by them. Wow, the bus driver called his command center and the conversation lasted two seconds. I asked the driver what happened he shrugged his shoulder and said its normal for buses to be missing, he hasn't had a normal work day since joining nice. He claims and I don't know how valid the claim is but there are drivers at nice who go to the depot and stay there because of buses that are broken down and runs just go missing. Whatever happened yesterday though was a new low.

  17. SC and JFK shouldn't be doing the shuttle, their union got an injuction against the TA so their B/Os don't have to run the shuttle on the grounds that MTA Bus doesn't operate the subway. I guess B/Os can still volunteer.

Which is stupid beyond stupid. One day the MTA is gonna have to come down hard on this issue. They, should be allowed to use whatever they have and need.
