Wow dude, you're flying thru school car!! I didnt realize you guys were that far along already! Next week is our last week of road posting, then 3 weeks left of schoolcar...almost there!!

Yepp, road ops start tonight. I go in at 1900 and thats till next week. Im guessing your in the class before me and If youre in the A Div you have TSS Magri, right?

Wow I havn't been in here in a long time.  As of right now I heard they are in the Mid 600's for drug testing and all, as per someones info.  Idk how accurate that is though since I barely been on here since New Years.  I started schoolcar on 12/17 and it has been pretty awesome.  To all the people starting soon or just started, get your sleep and PAY ATTENTION!  Information becomes alot easier to understand if you ask questions and pay attention.  I just took my signal test yesterday and got 100%.  Thats a must.  But the test is pretty straightfoward and fairly simple.  SIGNALS SIGNALS SIGNALS...........learn them and keep them in your head.  If you do so the signal test will be a breeze.  I beat myself up over it and when I got the test I was like "Really??"

It's been quite an experience so far and I've enjoyed every moment of it.  We got road ops starting next week, and thats going to be2 weeks.  After that is the 2nd yard Practical, and Road Posting.  Then the finals and all that fun stuff.  But to everyone that just got on, good luck, and to the people that are real close, your time is coming soon!

I tried to register on the site. I watched the video, and followed the link. The link wants me to LOG IN. I cant log in if I didnt register. This is so damn annoying.

Can Some one who is in schoolcar or a regular employee, help me out real quick?? I want to set up my direct deposit. Im looking all over TENS and I cant find the link to it. If anyone can help me thatd be awesome. Thanks!!

Thanks! A couple of the TSS' said there will be classes Jan, Feb, and March. No official dates though

I dont mind waking up too early. I just want to stop being sick. Its cutting into my sleep coighing so damn much. I even lost my voice. Ive been sick since Thanksgiving. I pretty have the stage before walking Pneumonia. But im on a pump which is helping a bit on the cough,wheezing and shortness of breath.

I'm glad all is going well so far! Who's your tss's at the school? If you get Ricky, he is very very knowledgeable!!! He really knows his stuff. Be prepared to learn a lot. School car can be alot of fun, but you have to make sure you read and learn your stuff. Anything you dont understand, ask questions about it!!! Have fun guys and gals.

 

By the way, how many people in the class?? Just curious

 

Were not in the field yet. Were still at PS 248 till Monday I believe. So far TSS Morales was in there and some guy with a moustache. I like both of them. Tomorrow we get Manning and someone else.

They don't deduct uniform $ from your check? Nice. Can I ask what ur check comes out to after taxes and dues?

 

I didnt get a check yet. But uniforms are NOT taken outta the check.

Day 2 of training - picked and received the B division. It filled up before they were finished. Tomorrow we begin at PS 248.

 

Yep 8am!! When they got to me there was only one B spot left. I took the A tho. Thats what I wanted. All the B picks did get gobbled up tho. Btw Im the person coughing non stop the last two days during orientation lol. Sucks being sick especially starting out a new job, waking up at 5 am

I went in dec 5 for drug test and hand in the mailed forms. How long should i wait for them to call and ask me to go in for medical?. Its been 6 days and tomorrow is one week. Anyone who went in for the same thing hear from them?

 

It took em six weeks to call me back. Also Hurricane Sandy postponed my class for 2 weeks also. Even with that it would have taken 3-4 weeks anyways.

So how are we supposed to go dressed when going in for the first time? I just got off the phone with them and they told me to come in today, however, I didn't ask how to dress..

 

Just like business casual. Button down and khakis or something like that. But when you go for orientation after you get sworn in you wear a dark blue collared shirt and black pants.

Moose u want the B Div right??? I'm not sure wat div I want yet..B Div has more route options and more trains which would keep things interesting

 

probably cuz its seems like I would do a bit less traveling. I just hope I have enough seniority where Im in the top 20 to pick my division and not worry about it. The A division is supposedly easier but IDC nothings easy viz i have no idea what all the rules and signals are. Im going in deaf dumb and blind haha......well minus the deaf and blind part

 

Haha Moose I would love to be in ur class ..either way well all be extras if we all are in the same Div so well prob all run into each other at some point

Usually from my knowledge, you get a letter for the DT pre-screening and a phone call for the medical

 

Yepp thats it happened to me. But when i was down there for the drug test and pre screening people also received phone calls. They had two lines. One for letters and one for phone calls........it was quite hilarious too. As the secretary doing the paperwork was VERY CLEAR, she said "this line is for letters, and this line for phone calls". So geniuses with letters got in the phone call line. I really hope they didnt get past that first process. I dont wanna work with idiots lol.

I'm definetly going to look into that.. do you know if they're open today so I can call them?

I did. I got both notices! I got one marked 2010(the education and experience) and the other (exam results) marked 2007(I think).. However, I did get both notices. They were both sent to my mailing address and I did personally receive both notices. To be honest, I'm between list number 329-331.. I'm reading the posts on this website and reading that people behind me on the list are getting notices. Meanwhile, I haven't even received a letter or a phone call yet! I was advised by another forum member to attain the phone number to the MTA employment Desk (which I did) number is 3476438229.. When I called today, a lady picked up and I asked what list number on exam 8098 were they up to, and she replied "8" with an attitude and then I told her my list number and she said that they will get to me. After the phone call, I realized that a friend of mine who was list number 85-90 is already in the class which begun in October. So how could they possibly be up to the number 8? Things just aren't adding up properly and I'm beginning to become frustrated with this whole situation.

 

Well apparently them telling you number 8 isnt that uncommon. Apparently when they first started calling for the first 100, someone called the direct number you did and they told him they were up to number 7. It doesnt make sense. If your list 330, you should have definitely gotten a call or letter. Id call again Monday or go down there directly to see wtf is goin on. Cuz if you got both letters one for the list number and a qualifying letter, there shouldnt be any issue UNLESS you changed your phone number/ or address. And thats the only way they cant reach you.

 

Once you get to schoolcar you'll see that there are things that the public should not know regarding train operation..

 

Well absolutely!! Sone people shouldnt have access to certain info. I just want a little inside info on what to expect or experience. But then again surprises are fun too lol.........BTW whos in the 12-17 class with me?!?!

List number 4 hundred teens here. I would look into it as well. Just spent an hour on the phone talking with a TO I know. Very excited.

I feel like crying.. this isn't fair.. I'm list # 325-335, I hear all around here that the MTA has reached past my list number on the list and yet I haven't heard anything either by mail or phone. Then I call the MTA directly and get told that they are only up to list number 8. My friend was list number 86 and he started back in October. Things just don't make sense and it isn't fair..

 

I would have to agree with GehrigFan. If you didnt receieve a second letter either qualifying of disqualifying you, you may be SOL. i got a second letter late in 2010. DISQUALIFYING me. It was total BS and i appealed and appealed and they granted it very early this year. My list is right around 250 and i took the DT on 10-17. Im already in the 12-17 class but seriously I would call DCAS, 511 again and tell them you know that people in the high 300s are going for drug tests already. Try to get some info that is atleast accurate outta them.
