  1. 3000-3009 (ironically) had to get rejected due to the cracks found in the car body. Now, 3015 and 3018 are experiencing the same issues for some unknown reason. My guess there's a design flaw in both the A and B cars, or they're not building it correctly.

  2. Update on the R179's:

As you all know, 3015-3019 was expected to arrive by Mid to late Septemeber/October, however we've come into more roadblocks.

3015 had cracks in its chassis when it was being built, one of the reasons why the set has been delayed.

3016 passed the vibration testing and started having components installed, nearing 87% completion.

3017 passed the vibration testing and started having components installed.

3018 had a "design construction flaw" (I don't know what this means I'm just reading off the email) in the front of the car, delaying it by 2 weeks.

3019 had major software issues and onboard electronic power issues that delayed it by 2 weeks (similar to what 3010 is experiencing.)

3020-3024 was suppose to start construction a week ago, but the delayment of 3015-3019 delayed the who entire construction back by at least a month and a half.

If these issues are sorted out, 3015-3019 should be here by mid-December.

  3. You guys do know they just used the old 2009 map and changed the front cover and Times right?

Another note, the Franklin (S) map was updated to show "Now (B) express service in Brooklyn." What does that have to do with the (S)?

Other then that, every timetable has been updated except for the (N).

  4. Oh, whoops. I recycled an earlier diagram I had drawn regarding future services on a Queens Boulevard Line and bypass, with a turquoise (V) running from SAS via the Bypass to the Port Washington Branch.

The yellow line actually comes from the Astoria Line after Queensboro, since I assumed (and I have no idea if this is correct) that you don't really need two services on Astoria north of Queensboro Plaza. But this is quite an old idea.

Do you mean something like this?

  5. In the early 90's they wanted to merge the Uptown portion of the (A) with the 6th Avenue/Brighton portion of the  :Q: and make it a weekday only service.

The weekday  (C) would have ran like it does now (168-Euclid local), between 207-Far Rockaway late nights, and 207-Euclid weekends. The (H) would have been the 8th Avenue express between Penn Station and Lefferts/Far Rockaway (no late night service), with an peak direction <H> to/from Rockaway Park. The late night Lefferts shuttle and the Rockaway Park shuttle would have run the same way it does today.

To add on, that new service would've been called the orange (A) or the orange (Q) via Brighton/6 Av Exp/CPW Local. The (H) would've terminated and started at Penn Station, while the (B) is discontinued.

  6. From an anonymous wikipedia edit (speaking of 3015-3019):

"There are only 5 built the other 5 still haven't even finished vibration testing in Plattsburgh, and don't even have components in them yet."

What exactly qualifies as "built", like finished R179's or FINSHED car shells?
