  1. 16th and 8th, capital nights. The whole class got X jobs, problem is there were allot of day jobs, both in maintenance and capital. The job I got there was only one spot. There were capital days spots at E180th st in the Bx. Allot of senior guys found out up there, and it started a shit storm. There is a chance the some, or all of the X jobs could go out to bid. I'm hoping that's not the case at least for my spot. There's an even mix of senior guys, and new guys in the gang I'm in, from looking at the pick book. Most of the low seniority number guys, have either the welder/burner spot, or the specialist operator spots.

I'm glad I did get a capital spot though. I've worked in construction most of my life, and the capital environment is more for me.

Nice. I'll probably see you on the tracks soon. Just got two of your classmates at fulton street last night. What are your rdos

  2. Anyone hired after 4/01/12 at NYCTA is in Tier 6. Tier 6 is a 25/55 pension just like Tier 4(I'm in Tier 4). The big difference between Transit Tier 4 and Transit Tier 6 is Tier 4 employees pay a fixed 2% (of their gross) into their pensions, whereas Tier 6 members pay on a sliding scale anywhere between 3% and 6% (of their gross) depending on how much money they make(scale is 45k to 100k+). 10/63 are the vesting requirements for Tier 6. This means that if you resign/retire anytime after 10 years of service and you're not 55 yet you can freeze your pension pay and collect at age 63. Tier 4 vesting requirements are 5/62.

Both Tiers(4,6) must fulfill the time(25yrs)and age(at least 55 years old)requirements to collect their full benefits. If not, they revert to 10/63 and 5/62 respectively.

Btw, medical benefits do not carry over with 10/63 and 5/62 pensions, just the accumulated pay.

What would we do about medical after retirement then?

  3. Actually the highest seniority number is 1973. Lots of people are taking about a mass retirement in 2 to 3 years. If this list is still active they will probably be going through it quickly. A good friend of mine is list number 5000. I'm still holding out hope for him.

For all those waiting, keep in mind that this is a tough job. I have a background in construction and stagehand work and this job has presented the harshest environment I've ever worked in. Everything is heavy and everything can possibly kill you. If you're on the list and will be called soon you should really think if this is the job you want to do for the next 25 years (unless you move around in the mta).

I've read about how dangerous the job was for about a year or two. I take everything people say with a grain of salt but now that I'm out on the tracks I see exactly what they are talking about. Be prepared. This is not like any other job you have ever done.

Those guys that got picked out must have picked "x" or "temp" jobs those jobs are not solid

Upo were u able to get in capital nights? If so how do u like it?

All of the jobs for the last class were x jobs. Upo and myself both got capital nights. I haven't gone to my hq yet, still training. Hoping we can stay there for a few months to get the taste of capital work and some ot

  4. If you, or anyone else are in Westchester yard tomorrow (Tuesday the 10th) look for a short or average height white guy with a blue T-shirt, I'll have on a Grey Helmet. Above the MTA logo on the front I'll put a strip of black electrical tape.

If you see me come and say Hello or just ask if i'm the guy from the forum online.

I just read this now, but we were in Westchester yard on the 10th doing slotter n chainsaw. We will probably be back there soon. Keep that electric tape there and I will try to find you.

  5. If your in Westchester yard Monday post it and I'll find you

It's always nice to put an actual face to a name and get to know people in other departments.

We will be reporting there Tuesday but I'm not sure if we will be staying in that yard... 23 years on the job, that's awesome. The training is very focused on saftey. Have you had any serious injuries?

  6. If you get to the yard by or before 7:30 you have a chance. Between workers and the contractors it gets real tight after that. being most spots you make yourself depending on your driving skill, LOL

Contractors try to take over lots of spots by placing things in the way. Outside the Yard on Waters Pl. it gets tight also with the school employees parking there also.

If your not familiar with the yard when you pull in past the first building (new tower) on your left there are spaces just passed the building on the left. If you continue straight and go over the tracks (where there is some construction on your right) and make a right just in front of the old tower there are more spaces. Even leading up the dirt road passed the contractors trailer (on your right) you'll find more spaces. To the left of the old tower there are a just a few spaces.

Personally, I always prefer leaving early and taking my own car when I can. Are you familiar with the area at all around Westchester Yard?

Absolutely not. I come from the other side of ny lol. I'm assuming you have been in training for a few weeks now. How has it been?

  7. Yes it will be $1.50 when it goes up and it's kinda like raises pay goes up each year and night dif goes up until you reach $1.50 atleast that's what my class was told also everyone coming in in my class and from here out you don't reach top pay until your sixth year on the job of corse you can take a specialist job or get a promotion and make more money faster but if you stay strictly track worker gonna take six years

Is it true they cut your training time down to four weeks?

  8. I have a feeling once the class actually starts the number of the last appointed will update. I've been checking it myself the last few weeks, plus a few members here are in the 410 range who were recently sworn in. I would say probably 420-430ish will be the updated DCAS figure. I'm in the 480-500 list range, I'm hoping to get my call for medical for the next class whenever that will be. So far it took them close to a year to process the first 5-600 people just for the drug test. I think a few guys who were in the 300 range had to take a second drug test since the expiration date is 90 days. So anything could happen as far as the next class starting sooner or later.

I think there will be a 3rd class right after or even at the same time as the 26th class. If there is, I'm almost definitely sure you will be in that class with your list number. The October 5th class had about 30 people in it and they went through about 80 people to fill that class. Assuming the trend stays the same, you should get a call for the next class.

  9. GM,did you also make it into the oct26 class?

Yes I did. Like I said before. The woman I spoke to said they were hiring track workers like mad. So hopefully they run through that list quickly. Lots of guys failing drug test and medical or failing to follow simple instruction. Pay attention to detail and you will be in before you know it.

  10. The MTA called me back for the medical test today and said come in on the 14th at 7:30am. My dad took the message so in not 100% sure if 7:30 is the right time. Does anyone who went for medical remember what time they called you in for?

I spoke to Mr Moran today also. The call time is 730 but I'm going to be there much earlier. My number is 41*. What number are you bobert... hoping we are in range to be sworn in to the next class and not just the waiting list.

  11. The last known appointed number is 348. The guy upo on this forum said he was the first sworn in to the class on the 26th. The class that starts the 5th has 20 people in it, so they went through almost 80 applicants to fill 20. If this current t trend continues and the next class holds 20 people, list numbers from 350 -430 should get called.

  12. I'm hoping for the best. My wife is a nurse and we have had contradicting schedules for the past year (her working nights, me working days). She just got approved for day shift. How messed up would it be if I got nights lol.

Either way I'd be grateful for the job at all. Did my pre interview, waiting for final processing. List # below 430
