@drop11412, thanks for bringing that up. I was at Zerega today for a Vision Zero class and asked. They said it's a holiday but not for Zerega Training Center.
@Ctrain24, Thanks a lot! Well, I guess I will find out for sure. If it's the 29th, that's cool. As long as it's sometime during the week. See ya there!
Sound good..I guess I'll see you on Monday..

Ok, I did medical & final processing today. I'm in for the December 26th class. Just trying to figure out when I pick my depot. I'm switching from OA to TA so I don't have to do the 7-10 day training again (or probation). I thought maybe Monday but hearing it may be a day or two later according to someone else who was in the same situation not too long ago.
Speaking of December 26, does everyone know for sure that the schoolroom is open? They're observing Christmas on that Monday..also the following Monday for new years..

Not the only one. From what I was told after you do the 10 testing and pass, you then go through more training for 4-6 weeks. During that time TA sends you out to do a cdl road test with the dmv. If you fail after that I believe it's over. Can someone verify this information. I would like to take it as soon as possible on my own. Pretty trip is one part and the road is another.
This lovely lady I met there was really informative and said I will and knows I'll do well. She was right about everything yesterday,[emoji4] , said I would clear medical and did. Like some sort of angel[emoji56] .
I can't wait to get the feel of the buses and be on the road. Also heard clerks say they need to call in more people to process and this class has more room to fill.

I've seen people do DMV road also on day10....you cannot line train with a permit..this is a fact.

Congratulations... You mind me asking what's your list # range?

1st part of the appointment is the pre employment screening. 10 years employment history listed with no gaps. Birth certificate, social security card, drivers history and after that urine test.
Then they give you a packet to fill out at home and bring in the second time around, which includes bringing license, social and birthday certificate and the medical test is performed. I go on Wed for the latter. If you pass medical you go to training, which for me is Nov 14 if all goes well.

Depends if your ta
Or mta bus. If your ta queens village Mta bus i believe the closest one to Nassau border would probably be JFK or laguardia depot. I am hoping to get into queeens village as I have a transfer pending for queens. Just need to wait for something to open up.
? Did you get sent to si?

I'm horrible with deleting posts. (stupid mobile theme)
We have no OA in our class but if we did, they were coming too.
Oa operators can't go to queens or Staten island..
Oa operators can't go to queens or Staten island..
This is the reason why every new hire most likely will be going to si...

Just realize that with the school bus the front axle is in front of you, compared to the TA bus which is behind you.
In my opinion, that's what's nice about having your CDL beforehand - since you don't have to worry about a road test, you don't have to worry about how DMV wants you to drive - just the TA.
This is true..I've heard of people qualifying on day 10, then failed the DMV road test...that's it..you're done...

This is like i said, my primary concern, i've seen buses take off side mirrors, guy leaving the car opened the door without watching and the bus took it off. Because some people park their private cars badly, you have less space on the right and sometimes have to cross over into the left lane at short notice to avoid a collision. I read either on this thread or on the previous bus exam thread the same thing also regarding the countdown walk sigh, never get caught in the intersection on yellow or red.
I had the same issue when i was getting my CDL A, i eventually got a grip on the lights thing, i look ahead way before to see if its blinking so i know to slow down ahead of time and that helps however it isn't 100%. Some lights they change to Red in like 5 seconds. I trained in Maspeth, there's a light there doesn't even go to yellow, straight from green to red with a 1-2-3 blink then red, ridiculous shit. However, I still struggle with covering the right with any vehicle, my advice and anyone can correct me on this, I usually stay in the right lane but as far left as possible without stepping on the white line, that helps with a private car but again, because of how some fools park their cars, might be harder with a bus, you might frequently have to step over into the other lane just to avoid those obstacles.
4 feet damn, think my aforementioned advice might be enough? i Mean that's all the lane there is for the right lane so it should suffice no? Slower is better for me, 3 to 5 on corners seems perfect. Thank you
Actually, they want you to drive on the white line...(steering wheel over white line)...cars on the left will be honking, ignore them....also any slower than 15mph can fail you..

I feel like the instructors are like that so as to test your resolve, if you can't handle one guy screaming at you even though he might get fired for his conduct like was previously stated, how are you going to handle 30 people cursing you out with nothing to lose? When I did my private lessons my instructor was rude as well, he fell asleep many times which made me think either i'm a decent driver or he doesn't value his life. Most times I tune people out and take the message from the rudeness. Example; Instructor says no you damn idiot, i told you check your mirrors. All my mind hears is "check your mirrors".
Even in my personal vehicle, I been practicing using mirrors more and observing and calling out clearance, pedestrian, vehicular(e.g. double parked cars on the opposite side of the street) and road hazards (potholes/bumps). My main concern with this is covering the right, entering and exiting bus stops I feel like I might clip a few mirrors on the right side. I also notice drivers opening their doors to exit without watching their mirrors and the bus has to swerve to avoid that. Any ideas on whether or not that is a legit concern and any tips?
Lastly, my secondary concerns are top speed and night time driving. How fast is a regular bus supposed to go? I see some flying by and some drivers really take their time. When i was learning, my instructor said I was going too slow n then too fast, because I know slamming on the brakes is a no-no, I was wondering for the 10 days, whats the optimal range for city streets? about 20mph and 5 when pulling into a bus stop?
Give yourself 4 feet of clearance on the right at all times..mph on a bus is 15 to 20..turning corners, 3 to 5.. mph..

Thanks
thanks..I'm in the 460-480 range..patiently waiting.Still trying to find out that out, and the last list number appointed. Still getting the 272 nonsense from DCAS, maybe they'll update it before Thanksgiving lol. But I'm still on an outstanding certification, so that could mean they're going to call the next batch in for medical soon. I'm in the 480-500 range so we'll see. I've given up calling 180 Livingston for information, I keep getting sent to the voice mailboxes, maybe someone else here will have better luck and update us.

Any word about a next class starting?

True, but keep in mind that most of those 2,000 people probably either changed their minds, failed the drug test, failed the medical exam and/or failed the training class.
also there're people out of that 2,000 that didn't pass the boss..

Yes I did. Like I said before. The woman I spoke to said they were hiring track workers like mad. So hopefully they run through that list quickly. Lots of guys failing drug test and medical or failing to follow simple instruction. Pay attention to detail and you will be in before you know it.
thank you..i'm currently waiting for the call to go in for medical...i believe i went in the day after you, which is the 25th..keeping fingers crossed to get into the next class..
