  1. Great Steve. If you get the X jobs your class may wind up with some good spots, prob not the same for my 27 at the back of the current list going down to pick.

Best of luck. I was in the Bronx for the yard training and although the commute was crazy for me, the guys, and bosses were all good to us. Listen to those senior guys. You'll learn a lot,( learning more now being actually at my job ), and be mindful of the safety of yourself and your gang. See you in the hole! Best of luck.

  2. whats up all,

just a update for those waiting and anxious.  just got home from day one orientation. all i can say is be ready for a long day.  you will meet and be talked to by various management members discussing the usual HR-ish type of lectures.  (conduct, ethics, being on time etc).  we also met and completed pension paperwork and retirement plans as well as medical information.  covered a lot of information today, not sure how much more there is tomorrow but am happy its moving along, and cant wait to get to track school and see what this is all about.

if anybody who went through this remembers the second day, fill me in what im missing for tomorrow.  thanks, good luck all!

  3. they give you safety gear in school. there is no uniform or uniform allowance , in track just safety ware. 5 day work week. 2 days off. at school u  get a mini pick based on class seniority. u get called  to pick a location, one at a time. the number of choices match the number of student. the locations may vary from class to class.  a location which could be a yard or a employee facility underground. the instructors will usually help find the track quarters(facility/locker room). Mini picks are temporary job assignments until u get the general pick and ur competing for permenant jobs. general pick involves the entire track dept picking  a job based upon thier track seniority number

Got you.. thanks man...By safety gear, does that include boots? If not, i gotta go grab some red wings.

  4. cptjcz, whats up dude...bout to start track school on monday.

I know ill find out soon enough, but hows the scheduling work? is it a 6 day or 7 day working week.  Also how are you assigned?  after school do you get like a home yard, and you report within that vicinity or how does it work.  Thanks dude for this info, and what youve already provided.

Also, do they provide you with a uniform check, or give you any gear? thanks

  5. Whats up all...

Just wanted to give you guys and update.  I was down there today for medical and final processing. some heads ups,  You will be there all day, make sure everything is filled out completely before going, have all your required documents and/or dispositions on you to submit, dont lie, bring lunch, and good luck.  Very happy to say ill be in the class Feb 22.  See you guys down there !!

  6. Yea it's orientation first, but they also give you the start date for school in which most cases it'll be Feb 22 for you, unless you get jammed up in a medical hold.

Thats great news.  Thank for all your help. Hope to see you in the same class as me. Ill keep the forum posted to return the favor.

  7. From what I've read from people already in is you go for the medical exam, as long as you pass that then someone goes over your paperwork, they fingerprint you, then take your ID photo, and swear you in. As far as medical, EKG, Glucose, Blood Pressure, Vision, Hearing, Spiro-meter ( lung capacity test ) I think some reflex/agility tests, I think you fill out a big questionnaire of your medical history. But if should get placed on a medical hold for anything, you'll have to get cleared by your regular doctor before you can continue with the rest of the final processing.

so by swear you in, im assuming they tell you when to report for track school.  hopefully thats the case.

  8.  ,

Also got the email for medical and final processing on Monday. Good luck guys!

Obiecoccoa, you recieved your email on thursday (yesterday)?  Im between 460-470, hoping to get one asap, looks like im close enough..hopefully today. Fingers crossed...

Steve keep me posted as well.

  9. I also have yet to hear anything.  I took my test the 25th, my list is 460-470, seems like i should make the feb 22* class.  I still havent handed my big packet in yet either.  Besides the pending tickets, which fortunately I have none, how important is your driving history to being hired?

  10. Yes I am on the list when i call. Thank you so much for taking the time to help me, I will post back after I take care of this. Probably won't be until next week unfortunately, as I have to sort plans with current work. Hopefully all works out. And again, thank you, you're a rare breed of generous.

  11. Thank you for your very detailed outline of the process. However. You may have misunderstood me a bit. You have a higher list number and you took a drug test already. I have not. Isn't there an issue there. I should have been with you or before you. My list number is between 460-470. I haven't been notified about anything except my test score, which was years ago.

  12. NEED HELP!!!

I am list number 46*. I have not received anything about Medicals, interview. Nothing at all. I call there and they give me the run around. Somebody please help. I don't know why I haven't been sent anything. PLEASE HELP. I see they have sent out Medicals etc to number over 300 higher than me.
