When you guys took the books of rules test, how was it? Did they put any signals and definitions/ horns and whistles? Was there fill-ins, true and false?

For those that started last week, how is it?

It's overwhelming at first but like its been said study study study.

Congrats!! I was a nervous wreck during my interview too and I thought I wasn't going to get called, days later they called me. You'll get called in no time.

Be prepared. It's going to be the most mentally challenging month you've ever had. After that, it's nothing compared to the book of rules class

Is the signal and definition test graded as 2 different test or is it graded together? Also how hard was it? mines is on the 31st

Oh ok so there cant even be a indication wrong ? I know the name must be correct 100% And im guessing there could be 5 wrong definitions in order to get the 80% on the definition part

100% on the signal names 80% on the indications and definitions. 50 questions in total, so I want to say you can only get 10 wrong between indications and definitions. It seems like a lot(and it is lol) but if you do a few words and signals everyday you'll be fine.

Just received my letter to report Thursday for the pre-employment process. How do I go about putting myself on hold?

I have a question. I might go into training for assistant conductor trainee for LIRR in September. Will i be able to put myself on hold for 4600 if I get a letter during training? If so, how? and how long does it last?(list # 82x btw)

Just in chance LIRR doesn't work out ill still like to have this opportunity.

How is training? The instructor said day 2 there would be a quiz I think.

Took the s&d test today and passed. The time from finishing the test to waiting for the results felt like the longest 15-20 mins of my life. I feel like I did terrible on the panel interview,so we'll see how it goes from here. Next class is in September, hopefully I'll get called for it.

I'm studying for the S&D Exam on Aug 10th, any helpful words of advise? I'm really freaking out. Everytime I think I have it down when I go to quiz myself I mess up.

 

Side Note.... I have a WHOLE new respect for the conductors... this is no joke.

Hi I am also taking the test on august 10. I been using index cards and been studying at night and whatever free time I get at work as well.

Thanks. No, I believe they gonna send a email first. 

I took the test yesterday. Passed all 3 cognitive, vocab and math. Wasn't that hard to be honest. The little interview went good too.

Svjbk it wont say air brakes on it bc it is a requirment for a class b cdl. So for example you cant get your permit until you pass general knowledge and air brakes test.

 

 

air brake is an restriction not an endorsement. if u dont have an air brake u will have a L restriction.

Ok, thank you guys. 

I have a question , I received my cdl permit and it only says passenger under endorsements. It should say air brakes too right or no? I took and passed my air brakes.

@svjbk. Do you know your friends list number so I have some sought of estimation? My number is 58* do you have any estimation of when I might get called in?

Ok kool maybe ur friend has an idea as to how quick they go down the list i know is based on vacancies but since his in already he might have a better picture of things.. I do remember callin 180 livingston and they would tell me they werent goin to start callin people until the end of this year and look how fast they started callin so everythin might actually be quicker than we expect .. Have u asked him what did he say about where u stand as far as ur list number more less when he feels u should be hearing from them?

Yeah basically the needs and vacancies. Took him 3 years to get called, so we on the right track.
