  1. They paid you for maternity leave even while on probabtion? Reason being i asked a union rep if it was paid while on probation and they told me no. Also from what i know you dont have to make up those hours because that's your time that was saved.

  2. I found them helpful (Thank You!), but as a bus driver prior to joining MTA, I knew for the most part exactly what the handouts were talking about and actually doing them, the El pillars for example made those concepts "come alive". For those new to driving a bus, the concepts might not be so easy to digest strictly on paper.

    Congratulations Isael! :)

Lets see what happens with future candidates, maybe this is a "one-off".

Yea i think they played me lol. Last time i did everything my medical and final processing the same day when i was gonna do OA but this time they made me do them seperate

  3. just realized that the subject line in HR email says medical ONLY. The 21 page booklet is not mentioned in the list of docs i should bring with me and no words about final processing. What does it mean? If i pass medical then i have to come back for the final procedures? is there no new class date determined?

They dont do medical and final processing in the same day anymore. Now once you pass your medical you have to wait for them to contact you again to come back for final processing. At that point they will tell you to bring that 21 pg packet.

  4. The people you train with are on the bus with you. In the order you start the qualifying course you find out in front of those same peopLe you trained with. Once you qualify you get off that bus and go train on the other type buses like Nova or RTS. Then the next person then tries to qualify and so on until all had a turn.

    Good to know thanks

Here is the experience from the October 31 class:

If you qualify on Days 6 & 7 (typically a Wednesday & Thursday) you'll get sent to Jamaica on Day 8 for RTS training.

Those qualified on Day 9 (typically a Friday) join their classmates who passed on Days 6 & 7 in Harlem and they did RTS and Nova bus training that day.

Those who qualified on Days 6 and 7 or Day 9 went to Jamaica on Day 10 (typically a Monday). We went back to Zerega and picked up the Day 10 people who qualified. The Day 10 people who qualified did their RTS and Nova training at Zerega.

As for road tests, some of the people who qualified on both Days 6 & 7 did their DMV skills/road tests on Tuesday and possibly Wednesday. Those who qualified on Day 9, I believe did their skills/road tests Wednesday or Thursday. The remainder and Day 10 did their skills/road tests on Thursday.

All of the students who qualified on the October 31 class who wanted Staten Island got transferred to Staten Island. Nobody got to go to Queens (Casey-Stengel, Jamaica or Queens Village) and the depots available to pick were Jackie Gleason, Quill, Kingsbridge and Tuskegee and a few others .

Do you have to pick a depot right then and there or they give you time to think it over?

  5. I agree, but not necessarily. The reason why is because, in Maspeth, there are two [2] railroad crossings, and if you screw up on one of them, including forgetting to stop, you automatically fail.

Unfortunately, from my perspective/understanding, it does disqualify you temporarily. However, it also depends on your list number too. As of now, if I am correct, if your license stays clean, you will be good to go in December of 2018. Now, depending on the TA's hiring needs, if your list number comes up in December of 2018, then you are good to go.

I honestly don't think there is any way to get it removed...sorry.

I messed up on the railroad crossing at Maspeth and the examiner didn't fail me however she deducted 15 points. I didn't even realiz that i stopped pass the gate until she called it out. She was really nice i agree it depends on the examiner because any other examiner probably would've failed me.

  6. The A3 restriction just means you have to drive within the NY state so a DOT Medical is not required. Now if you have the DOT medical then you can choose the option to drive in any state. But you have to renew your medical every 2 years. The A3 restriction is not a problem.

  7. Hello. I have number 134 on the list. I don't have my CDL permit but was thinking about trying to get it at some point.Based on what I have read on here I'm assuming I have to have it before I get called? Is there a study guide that any of you have used for the test?

Yes u have to have it by time you get called & They have free study booklets at the DMV.
