  1. Ok..here's my situation. I had my medical done 1st November 2016. Since I had a small issue, was placed on medical hold. Though I could have resolved it right away, I took that opportunity to wait to take care of some personal matters. Today I went to get the hold cleared, but my original medical expired, since it's more than 90 days.  Had to go to DCAS to get reinstated. Went back to Livingston, but was told I have to wait till they get the updated list with my name on it. I was given Ms. Chesnut's contact info and told me to call her in about two weeks. Guess I'll have to do everything all over again.

If anyone has experience getting hired after being reinstated, I would please like to hear how the procedure went.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. I was in the same situation and got it cleared yes you can just show up there but they will probably tell u as they told me if the medical is more than 90 days old when the next class is schedule to begin u will have to do it over ..

No, the lab work they required, i got last month..

  3. I am on a medical hold, but now have cleared everything with my doctor. Wrote to Ms, Chestnut asking when I should come back to Livingston, but no reply. Can I just show up there on a weekday morning?. Hoping to get into the class in March if there's one.

  4. There's 7 of us from the 11/14 class who transferred to Staten Island.  We got in just before the system pick closed on Dec 29 but in the end it didn't matter.  Castleton and Charleston closed so we didn't get to pick a depot and were all forced to Yukon.  The Union is saying there's up to 40 operators who want to transfer out of S.I.  When they do, we'll have the opportunity to transfer to another depot since we didn't get to pick.  From what I've been hearing, most of those operators who are transferring out of S.I. are in Charleston and Yukon.  None of the 7 in my class want Charleston.  You can probably guess from my avatar where I'm heading once I get the opportunity.  I'd say you have a good chance of getting Charleston once those B/Os transfer out.

Yes. My first choice would be Caselton too. If not I'll take Yukon.

  5. I'm in 12/26; a lot of passed their road tests, I'm doing mine today. Picks are done, but I transferred to Staten Island, I will get details later today. What do you want to know?

No..nothing particular. I'm planning to get myself re-instated next month. List 13xx. I want to transfer to Staten Island if get selected. I hear you can't pick Staten originally. How do you get the transfer?

  6. I received my paycheck on GI Day. Which was a Thursday.

Your paid from the first day of orientation until you a: fail to qualify for and or dmv testing.

Day 6 is pre qualification. Pass then you go to day 7 for Qualification.

FAIL day 6 or 7 you go to more training Day 8 and Day 9 you have to requalify. Fail that you go to Day 10 at Zerega, which you must make qualification. If you fail day 10 you must resign or be fired. You are paid for the 10 days.

My case, I started 11/14. Failed day 6. Automatically go to 7, 8, 9. Day 7 was the test but since I didn't qualify it's just training day for me. Trained day 8 and day 9 I qualified.

Qualifying on either day 7 or 9, if you don't have your cdl, you get 2 chances to take the dmv road test.

After day 9, we continued to "train" but was mostly paperwork at TWC 100 on wednesday, and Zerega for GI Thursday, depot pick and paperwork. Then waited for my road test, Friday. I failed my road test Friday.

Sent back to requalify on Monday at Zerega, (if you fail here you must resign or be fired) I passed and thus get another chance with the DMV. This was this Monday. TUES Wed and today was training, each of us getting turns and getting ready for our road test for tomorrow. So every day I worked or reported to TA since 11/14 I WAS PAID TO TRAIN OR WORK OR FILL OUT PAPERWORK. As of now 19 days paid.

The day you're asked resign or get fired is the last day you're paid for.

Good luck on your road test tomorrow.

  7. I'm in that situation now. I was called in so quick for Buses, I had to get my permit. I wished I had my CDL license before starting. I passed on day 9 and took my dmv roadtest last Friday and failed with 70 points. Just got caught up with everyone worried about passing and the expectations of what was to come in the roadtest. I felt like I didn't know how to drive. Once one person failed in the beginning it all went down hill from there. When I left 4 failed 3 passed on Friday

NOW i have to do day 10 today and pass and then get another chance for dmv. This is crazy. I've made it this far and put to much into this. I want this job. I've seen people who quit long careers with their old employers and have nothing to go back to after being forced to resign from MTA ,either by not qualifying or not passing the roadtest

Stay positive. You did qualify for MTA and you should be able to pass the road test. Take couple of deep breaths if you're nervous. You'll succeed. I appreciated your postings from the very beginning and wish you all the very best.

  8. Yes. I've heard I get 2 chances since I did it in 9 days? The recent days i should be able to do it.

When my Supt. told me to secure the bus and walked out the bus, made a call and turned to me and said, "welcome to the family, you've qualified", I broke down with joy and happiness , the cloud over me has broken and my life can come full swing. Anyone can pm me details of the test or is it staight foward? Pre trip, ALSAPS, THEN drive? Calling over passes, hazards etc

Thanks for the frequent updates on your progress. I'm sure it has been very informative to most of the readers. Please keep doing so. What do you have to do now until the DMV road test?..When exactly they tell you, you're hired? Once you pass the DMV, what happens next?

  9. From the class of 11/14 they asked upfront if you wanted to put in for Staten Island to sign the paper of acceptance to request SI or Queens depot, providing you pass qualifying. Once you sign that paper and want to go to SI or Qnz you will stay there for life and cannot leave those depot in that Borough

I went for my medical on Nov 1st. My hold was for a minor issue. They said to get it cleared and come back ASAP to join the Nov 14th class. But I decided to take that opportunity to hold on till Feb. Need time to take care of few personal matters for which I wouldn't have time if I had started on Nov. 14th. Hope the list would not end before then.

  10. The list number is established from the test results. So example would be my list # is 82x. In my class there was people with list number 7xx. They have more seriority than me, so they get to pick before me for the rest of my time at MTA. Now there was a new class after, I get to pick before them.

If you come off from medical, you get put back into place with your list number.

Thank you..I'm on medical hold. Planning to go back in February after taking care of few personal matters. Hopefully I will have seniority then. If I pass, i want to pick Staten Island.

  11.

If anything, that's one of the good things of being on medical hold or reinstating your list # later on...depending on the exact scenario, you won't be last to pick your "initial" depot...

What does the seniority means here?...It's the higher list number..??

  12. When someone is placed on medical hold the sheet that MTA gives for ur primary doctor to fill up does it only ask especifically for what mta needs or does it ask for ur health overall? Anyone whos been threw this that can inform the rest of us will gladly appreciate it thanks upfront..

Only for the particular medical problem you're having. e.g. if you're blood sugar is high, they will ask your doc to fill out the form about blood sugar. Nothing else.

  13. Thats what i though so yea there defenitly wrong then.. at one point they try tellin me that the high numbers are people that are already workin for mta and are just transfering to TA thats probably not true also

Check your junk mail folder..just in case..

  14. What was your list number? If you don't mind me asking and did you get a start date yet?

List #13xx. I'm on medical hold. If not i could have started training on Nov.14th. I'll take my time, get my CDL and get reinstated in January.

How did they contact you by phone or email if you don't mind me asking

  15. How fast hypothetically speaking if I go in Nov 3, would they call for training? Assuming clear medical etc. I would like to get my cdl ahead of the training, don't want to end up losing a position if I don't pass the road test. I know negativity for the future but I want the smoothest transition. Assuming I go to driving school and the earliest road test schedule

Next class is on November 14th. If you pass the medical, you might be able to make it.
