  1. Damn that's outrageous. But you know what... that just makes me wanting the job even more. To really prove to yourself and them TSS that you got what it takes. They can't stop you only you can stand in your way.

But now i see why a lot of B/O's say they rather stay up top. Because going down below is truly a headache. Lmao my ninja i wish you the best push thru and make the best of it you never know what the end game can look like unless you see the finish line!

Outrageous!  That's a new one.   I've consistantly heard Unfortunate, Bull*hit, Horrible, Hate for the way things are handled down here but, outrageous is a new one.. These are all apart of everyday life down here.  Meanwhile don't be late.

  2. Not really your still looking at least a year before they start calling from that exam. They won't establish that list until after the promotional exam is completely. Plus with the agency running the show now it can be better or worst. Dcas had a sense of direction, had a formula on how to do things compared to MTA. So as of now you just never know.

The passing rate is horrible..  The TSS's are horrible.. The SI in schoolcar is horrible..

There firing 10 T/O's a week this includes schoolcar and probation..

Maybe 10 percent of the promotional conductors are becoming T/O's 90 are going back to being conductors..

That's the truth..   So 7604 might be called sooner than you think.. The A division is starving for T/O's.

  3. Does anyone know how long the background investigation takes and how in depth they get.  I actually finished school car last month, but I actually stayed at my other job an extra 2 weeks (sick leave)  because I wanted to make sure I would be able to make it through the training before letting go of my full time gig. would this be something they would hold against me.  I've asked 2 of my prior managers if they have been contacted as of yet and they both say no. So does the check focus more on criminal elements?

I pray you signed the dual employment form..  I know you know that you were suppose to right?!?  If so you have nothing to worry about..

    Congrats!!!  I'm in class now..

I personally thing this was the worst time to do T/O.. No one before us has ever had to deal with this BS we are going through..

But, congrats that you made it..  I bet a pension you didn't have LEONARD.. Worst TSS ever!!

  4. May I ask you what kind of class they had? Age wise? Young, old? Little bit of both?

And what's different from school car today compared to when this thread was made. Some changes I see. Actually alot. But then again I really don't know.

    School car now you ask?!?!

Well I'm currently in School car:

Young - His love for men caught up with him in the failure of schoolcar students you hear today because most of them messed up on the road so most are not passing schoolcar he passed mostly men prior now is failing most.  TSS's are the luck of the draw.  Class of 40 are down to 21.. My class specifically was 10 down to 5 in the first practical..  We all failed the first practical.  5 passed the makeup. Half men half women young and old..  "Open and comp" is not popular as well as YX.. That's plain and simple.

There are 10 T/O's being fired a week.  Provisional mostly.

  5. Don't let people saying that jam you up. There are plenty of places in the B Division that it can be seen if you've hit a signal...also you never know who is riding your train and may report or question it...and many signals have event recorders that will say if they've been passed while at danger.

Don't ever assume no one knows. Learn to respect the yellows and not hit signals.

    Awesome insight.  Thank you.

  6. I can only personally speak for the A division yards. I drive in almost every day unless its a day where we'll visit multiple locations. New Lots, Corona, and 240 yard, you can park on the premises. For the other yards where you need a permit, ive had no problem finding street parking close to the yards. Sometimes right in front. Of course there is no guarantee that this will be the case for you, as i mentioned im in the A and ive also been on an evenings schedule (3-11) so this may factor in as well. As they say, you have a free pass for a reason. Youre taking a risk driving (traffic, accident, etc) that you dont have if your on public transit.

    Thanks for the quick response.

I've also heard that the A division has more of an updated RR system.. "Automatic way's to trip up and get called downtown"  A division would be ideal because of where I live.. As opposed to the B division where you can cover up a missed signal.  The T/O's on the A division have been VERY vocal in person about missing signals which lead to the obvious retention rate of the 2016 maturation process from school car to the end of 1st-year probation.  Does this hold any merit?

  7. Preparing for school car and all of the traveling one topic I haven't seen covered is parking..  I know everyone doesn't travel to the stations by train.  Are the cars that are parked upon the curb the cars of T/O's & TSS..  What's the best way to travel?

  8. Word to the Wise regarding these Signals you just posted, when you take the Signals Quiz the meaning of the signal MUST be what they teach you it is. Have anybody gotten their signals Book? If so Study that Effer left and right those are the signals you will be tested on.. Stay away from any Online stuff! All it will do is get you clipped if you fail that quiz and they arent playing!!!

    Figured so..

  9. You are absolutely correct, I WAS called. Long hard road, but I made it through it all. Well worth it, for most. You guys are next, and when you get in im here to help. I Just took a promotional dispatcher exam last weekend and studying for the next upcoming train service supervisor exam. Promotion al opportunity is available.

One thing you will learn is to ignore the negativity, if u haven't yet. I sign in to work, do my job, mingle with positive people, and sign out smiling... Good luck to all.

I got the call for class as well..  Short story is I learned exactly what your saying..  The "Hyena's" and their followers are here and they will heighten your anxiety..  So to the few private messages I've gotten stay positive and stop looking and reacting to every notification on the board.  It will be alright and what's meant for you will be.. thousands of people are retiring every year.  Which makes the list move quickly.  I just took the dispatcher exam as well !!!!  Congrats

    Have a wonderful life.

  10. I filled mines out again. I went down there with a copy and they were like, hold up Missy....u need to fill this out again..lol. Its just the application. The 21 page packet you take with you when you get called for final processing I believe.

I was gonna pull the same stunt. :ph34r:

That's!!!  Why I was asking that question..

  11. Thank you and yes went for a second drug test a week ago. Now I get the call to report Friday for final processing

Did you fill out the paperwork again?  When you went the second time?

They sent the same paperwork in the mail that the send prior to my first visit..

Either way seems like a very short matter of time.  I'll see you winners in a few weeks to a month !!!!

  12.

Did you do another urine test as well on your second visit?

    Not Blood?

Great news I just received my email to report Friday for final processing for the December 26 class yay!!!

    Congrats !!!

  13. omg, this is new news to me. I haven't been called for a physical to date. So what your saying is the "second round" consists of diabetes, proteins etc..testing? I hate this, I'm so confused. The nerve if them to give us list numbers for order but there is no order with processing. Its crazy....I'll keep you guys posted with whatever I know but I'm so over it.

    Correct..

This information is coming from a highly trusted souse in which we will be meeting sooner or later...  (Can't blow my lead) But, sharing info..

  14. Never heard of a sugar and protein test weird

Sent from my LG-H918 using Tapatalk

They don't call it that specifically:  Ebonics for blood pressure to diabetes,

This is what I was told to expect on my second visit.  In terms of filling out the paperwork from the first visit again.

When you go there, they'll know that you're there for the 2nd round, but let them know that you already did the first part. Smh. You see what I mean? I told you, one hand doesn't know what the other is doing with them at HR.

Don't fill it out again. You'll probably be in a class by January. Unfortunately, you have no better choice but to be there all day because they're checking you medically for sugar and protiens, from stem to stern, and you'll be fingerprinted, have you picture taken for your ID, and you'll be sworn in and given your Rule Book and your Induction Book. You'll also be told where and when to report for Orientation which will be at 130 Livingston Street which is near Schermerhorn. Sorry. The only thing that I can guarantee is that if you received the same form again but with the date this week, then don't fill it out again. Let them know that you filled it out the last time you were there. Then they'll take it from there. They'll find out from your last visit and move you along.

What I would do is contact HR again and ask them about filling it out a second time and see what they say. It's better to be safe than sorry because it's possible that for some other reason, you have to fill it out again. How long is the form?

Just fill it out they might have another oversight..

So just bring that with you and let them know that you filled it out already. However, call them and ask them why you're being told to fill it out again. I'm sure it was sent to you as an oversight. The urine test you did the first time was for drugs and alcohol. This time, you'll be tested for everything, from blood pressure to diabetes, to protein, to vision and hearing, to an EKG, your weight, height, I mean everything. Lol!!
It's like being examined for the Armed Forces, that's part of the reason why they call it paramilitary.
  15. I hear you my leave started mon but my boss said I don't have to begin the leave until the mta calls. My leave ends March 5 so even if I can get a month I'll be ok with that.

Reading one of your posts and another post..  Am I to understand it's a wait after the second visit AND a wait after that "Being in the process of TO..

Like you I don't have too much time left that I put in for for this leave..  I have to adjust at work asap if it's gonna run hot and cold like this..

  17. let's just stay positive. We be er know how things are going to go. I'm just very surprised as to how the calling slowed down. At one point the list #'s moved like 1200 spots in one month.

    Exactly

After reading the last couple pages I was sure I was gonna be looking a Feb. 2017

-One thing I could say is that my paperwork was in order..  I paid $135.00 at the Social Security office to get a print out of all my jobs.  Just to make it mistake free.. As well as gave them a copy of it as well.

Why they sent me the same paperwork that I turned in the first time is beyond me but, I have 3 Copies of all of it..

I'm never filling that stuff out again without my own personal copies.
