The forth wall at NJ transit between front line labor force and back office who have full authority to make the changes is made of military grade armor. Only people who have the keys to open the forth wall are the politicians. Just accepted it for what it is

Also all Hudson county lines don’t need MCI cruisers, they need low floor buses. These poor elders risk breaking  there bones exiting off the MCI and the kneelers are not designed to be used frequently

I keep saying this, fairview needs to be an all exact fare lines. The dwell times are just too much with the mcis and full service on the Nabis/Artics. I could never be an operator at Fairview, it just looks too stressful and Bergenline would make me quit.

  3. What surprised me is the recent bus order for articulated buses. Meant to consolidate some of the existing 40 feet nabi. Does NJT even have room to accommodate? Something is missing here, remember this bus order was created in joint effort between Transit and the private carrier committee. I suspect a good chunk of this will be dispersed to the private carriers whoever they may be at that time.

  4. 2023 had been an interesting year for the DT4500CT bus reshuffling since the downsize of Coach USA and Academy service settlement with NJ.  We are done with any future cruiser type order and fulfillment. I was hoping to see a D4500 CRT in the fleet this year,  However that order has been put on hold indefinitely. Next up are the Nabi replacement with the XD40 diesels.

Last board meeting, there was not any discussion from public at all regarding the approval of diesel only order. This shows you how the public does not invest enough time to provide feedback on bus operations nor they ask who are the new buses for?

    One for the history books.

As of November 16th all the above units have been decommissioned and no longer on Oradell Property. You can find them at the North Bergen lot

Doing a last check, it appears all of the D4000 system wide are no longer in use. My gosh 20 plus years of public use they survived well

I'm sure those D45CRT standard floor cruisers are going to Wayne and some possibly to Meadowlands to replace the 9000s and 7100s. Oradell should definitely have all of their 40 foot MCIs replaced by the 22000 white back MCIs and they'll be housed in Oradell garage. Fairview may have their ex-Wayne 9000s replaced by the white backs as well. It's just a guess on my part

Since Oradell split to Westwood, it leaves Oradell room to expand service including adding more buses to the fleet.

The physical limit of 45 footers at Oradell stands at 182 but management wants to stop at 160 for comfort.

Originally, we had 209 40 footers.

They will go to garages that have the oldest buses in the fleet not miles driven.  Take your bets :-)

Between Washington Twp and Egg Harbor there are 111 18000 series. With the high miles on the 18000s they are going to have to shift those buses to a garage that does less miles. Same with the low 17000s njt took back.

I can see at least 40 18000s going to market steet.

NJT prefers to use the age of bus metric over miles driven. They are focused on replacing oldest bus on the fleet.

That's interesting for the D45 Charge; I just can't see those buses on the 317 doing that super long distance though.   Meanwhile, I heard the XE 40s will be delayed until the end of the year.

Listening to the Jan 31 2022 operational meeting, head of Bus operation said "will have 1" out 8 by June while rest will arrive 4th quarter 2022. The current demo is a temporary lease to test out the charging stations and not used for revenue service. I know MCI sales team is pushing for their next gen products in hopes NJT indeed select D45 CRT E cruisers for the next phase. Remember we still have a 172 cruiser RFP that has not been finalized. At this rate I don't see this being finalize until next year as more garages have charging stations.
