  1. I was injured during schoolcar after passing my prep for customer service practical and brake pipe rupture. I'll be out 6 weeks. I missed the last week of class. What will happen when I get back? My class is ahead of me and there no class I can jump into as far as I know.

    What will transit do with me?

    Seriously, my list number is  25xx and I went for the OPA - CALL THEM AND ASK QUESTIONS, especially if you're sub 1k...they're not perfect, the letter could have gotten lost in the mail.

    I don't know why you wouldn't have received a request to take the OPA.  My only guess is perhaps you have changed your address since the time of the test if you have done so then make DCAS aware of it. Going by the information we have it seems they are hiring only 200 so it's unlikely they will get up to your number with these classes but you wouldn't be too far behind as some will inevitably bow out for reasons  like medical/drug test/no longer want the position.

    It looks like they're calling in 2000 to hire 200. Is that right? Obviously they need to call in more then they hire but what happens to those they don't get hired? If they call in the first 2000, does that mean on the next round of hiring they'll start at 2001?

    @jmksi, great questions.

    I'm curious as well.

    I'll be relieved when they start processing people who passed the oral proficiency assessment (OPA).

    I know there were rumors of a hiring freeze for conductors.

    Clearly Transit is hiring for other titles.

    I'm at 56** so itll be awhile before I get called even for the OPA

    So I got my list number in the mail and I'm in the high 4700's, which is anywhere from 4,750 to 4,799.

    For those who did not get their list number, there are two ways you can find out your list number:

    a) Call DCAS @ 212-669-1357 (press 2, followed by your Social Security # and follow the prompts)

    OR:

    b) Click here and type your last name in the search box on the top right.

    Good luck everyone!!

    I'm 56**. In your estimation, how long do you think it'll take before we are called?

    @jimmyvn, I have the same question.  I got 95, #50XX.

    I know it could be quite a while but on the last list they got almost to 10,000 - not that they hired 10,000 conductors, but that they processed people up to almost 10,000 on the list.

    Crazy how answering another question or two correctly puts you so far ahead on the list when this many people take the exam.

    How long was the last list used for?
