Every other week pay day so 80 hour minimum check. It goes up from there - you get no lunch, extra 30 minutes straight pay, late clear for whatever reason (no relief and the person they find to take over takes an hour to get there, you get an hour at time and a half), double or working your day off is time and a half (or you can save some of it as OTO which you can use to take time off when you want)

TA don't play that unpaid training nonsense like LIRR does...$21.89/hr from day one. (That's current starting pay) I heard once upon a time the first couple days were paid at minimum wage so the people that show up on day 1 and decide to leave after realizing TA owns you for a while after you start weren't getting good money for wasting everyone's time, but they don't do that anymore.

That non paid only applies to those who are going for locomotive engineer trainee the phase 1 but if you pass to phase 2 then you are hired on. You get retro pay for the time spent non paid in phase 1. I just hired on as a AC but it’s weird lirr pay us weekly only managers are bi weekly..I thought it was weekly all throughout MTA...I was scheduled for a drug test for the station agent as well but I don’t have any days I wanted to just have a back up just Incase.

Does anyone here live in NJ? Trying to see if it’s possible to commute from NJ or if I need to move. I live right off the bridges but still it takes some time to get to penn station.

It depends I’m in training right now my class starts at 6:30 I live 20 mins away from hillside and I still have to get up at 4:30 just to catch the trains I need to get there 45 mins before so I cant even imagine the time you have to get up to get there on time.

  3. Flash cards is your best option what works a lot is reciting it out loud then after you gotten it right write it down I usually like to do the voice recorder after you recited it with no mistakes.. spelling and punctuation doesn’t matter...you be suprised everyone can write it down but when it comes down to the verbal when getting asked to recite a definition in class people have a hard time remembering.

Yeah parking tickets I know I’m just worried because i have one TVB ticket that I’m waiting for the court date on but it’s not until March and I don’t want it to hold me up with the hiring process. I’m willing to pay it if I have to just so I can go on with the process but than I’m worried about the points that the ticket carries.

I have 3 pending 1 that is moving violation carrying points  I just hired on with lirr as a assistant conductor I’m sure it’s the same process so your actually better of than I was

I just got my letter to go for interview feb 4th list  # 17** but I want to know if the amount of points you have on your license effect if you get the job or not?

I’m not sure but I don’t think so since it’s not a position that required you to have a driver license but don’t quote me on that I know parking tickets for sure they’ll send you home

Hey.. Im confused.. I went in for pre employment oct 2017.. I called over the summer and the person I spoke to said I wasn't qualified. So I ruled out this position. I got the letter in the mail yesterday with my test score and official  list number 440.  it said that list was generated 12/12/18. I assume the info I was given on the phone months ago was incorrect. Anyone had this happen to them?

I had gotten a call and a text message over the summer saying I wasn’t qualified either then the next day got a call and text message saying disregard what was said. I haven’t gotten anything since taking this exam but I just was hired for the lirr assistant conductor. Does anyone know why it took so long to hearanything ?

I had the same problem. It's been a few years now for me, but I think you want it to say "Clear" rather than "Consider". I'd call them and see what the hang up is. It's probably something minor. For me, it was because I had listed each job title that I held at my old employer as a separate job (I was promoted a few times). When Sterling went to check that I was actually employed there, the dates I gave didn't match what my old employer's automated employment verification system provided, because I had listed the specific dates that I held each title, rather than just saying that I worked at the company from 2007 to 2011.

I called them and explained the situation, then they had a human call and speak to my former boss (rather than the automated system) and a few days later it changed from "Consider" to "Clear".

Not really my background is still on complete consider and it says pending and I’m in the Jan class

what interview are you talking about that they sit down with you and go through your resume? are u talking about the open house? if so during the open house i went to, we took the initial exam, they called out all the people who failed, then those that passed had to take the math portion and after we passed the math portion, that is when we were interviewed and went over resume and job application. did u have a different process at your open house mlad?

Same thing but they made sure there weren’t any gaps in between employment

I didnt know they look into anything concerning backgrounds until sterling does it AFTER you pass sd test? Does your resume match your job application 100%?? i know they are strict with everything matching.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

That’s weird I never heard of that too.. but it has to be something else because they sit down with you before the interview and go through your resume with you so it’s not like you would miss something unless it was something that wasn’t mentioned.

Hello to everyone near and far.

I just received the email to the hall in a couple of days.

Does anyone know employment verification is performed? Do they only take w2s or sterling handles?

Thanks so much and gl to everyone

The resume you bring the interviewer will go through it and make sure there are no gaps. That’s only if you pass all 3 tests will you get to that point .

Awesome, thanks! At least that will give me some time to plan ahead when the time comes.

That’s insane, seems like there’s 2 classes that’s delayed. Adding us on would be 3 if things go right.

did you guys use any apps like quizlet? Flashcards+ to help?

Flash cards I never used anything else. Yea if the classes delayed then you could be looking at end of 2019 early 2020. It all depends on how much they get approved for.

I wanted to ask what was the estimated time frame after passing your s&d exam do you get called to the academy, given you pass background, PE and all others in between? I have a newborn at home and wanted to scale out a time frame and get everything i need to together (babysitter, doc appointments, etc.) before things really speed up and go into motion.

as for the index card studying, for those that passed the s&d how many did you guys study? per-day/week/hours?  I was planning on creating the cards and studying 10 signals, 5 definitions using any downtime i can to review them per-day at work and while traveling to work, with the kid at home ill be lucky to get a glance at it to really drill it in my head.

    cheers.

Yea that’s fine what I did first though I broke down the definitions from longest to shortest once you get the long ones out the way the short ones becomes so easy. As for the time frame when the schedule comes out then you can pretty much see where you stand. Last year as someone mentioned 10 classes was the plan then it became 8 and only 5 was held. Now for next year plan is 6 they mentioned.

Did you also pass in May? I passed in July I’m just checking to see if there is some sort of order lol

Yea I passed in May  I believe you’re group was after mines but there’s no way to know what order. It all depends on how many people are in the hiring pool. We were told In may we be in by August 2018 so as you can see we are now slated for a January/feb class because she still doesn’t have the schedule. Just be patient it’ll come.
