When I cleared my medical hold last week, no further classes scheduled after 1/28...had to go down to DCAS and put my name back in the list

Hello. Could you explain what you mean by go down to DCAS and put your name back on the list? Not sure what that means. Thanks.

  2. Good afternoon.

I've been quietly reading and following along. Everything cool until now. Ya'll need to relax a little and not put down others or make them feel stupid just because something seems obvious to you. This forum is here to help everyone, from novice to veteran. It's not just here for you and your crew.

Title of this topic is hiring process. The subject lately is off topic and should probably be moved to school car, but not my call.

My point is... Only stupid question is the not asked. You intimidate others by your tone and people will be reluctant to ask. Others may be wondering the same question not asked.

Thank you everyone for your contribution and participation.

    All questions are appreciated.

No, my medical hold isn’t for high blood pressure/cholesterol. I don’t want to say what it is because it’s starting to feel like it could be a negating factor in getting hired. I don’t want people in the same situation as me to try to hide it if it turns out to be something that will keep you from being considered. .

However, it could also be the particular doctor I got at 180 Livingston. She seems to have an ignorance and prejudice when it comes to my particular problem (she also seems barely competent in my opinion). But it’s like she was also just looking for some reason to put me on medical hold too, so maybe it was a personal thing—she didn’t like me from the moment I walked in the room for some reason.

If it turns out I’m not fit for duty because of this particular medical problem, I’ll let you know.

Dang, that's crazy bro. Hate to hear things like that, whether it be for this job or any type of discrimination. Hope this works out for you.

I’m list #81x. I was called for medical on December 18th. I was put on medical hold that day. I got the letter from my doctor and went back to 180 Livingston yesterday. I asked about the hiring freeze and I was told it doesn’t affect train operators. They then put me on medical hold again (ugh). So I don’t know if I can resolve the issue fast enough to get in the Jan 28th class. I asked about that too and they haven’t yet planned any classes past Jan 28th.

Thanks very much for letting us know.

And even if you don't clear by January's class, think positive.

You will eventually clear it up and you are 640 ahead of me! 😅

Ms vargas' assistant just said to me they are only up to 700s for meds. But according to on the sticky and one poster, theyre in the 800s. Interesting.

Naw, Vargas told me 800 something and someone else on this thread earlier that went in was 800 something...they are in low to mid 800's.

They probably getting 100's of calls a day about the hiring freeze and what number are they up to. It must be driving them nuts 😵

  6. So I spoke to a veteran friend in TA and he said there is no freeze on operating title. I didn’t know what operating title was and he said that means those who provide a service.

While this is not official, I’m weighing towards it based on the letter and the need for TO due to retirees and those getting fired/suspended.

Gonna forward this to @Harry and see what's up

Also, they ask for 10 years of work history on your application to do the background check, as per DOT regulations.

They want work history since high school. That's 23 years for me 🙄

But thanks, I knew someone would have the answer.

LOL they do not care about your suspensions! Just make sure you don’t have any open tickets, parking or moving violations. They will put you on hold!

    I'm good then.

Hopefully I wasn't the only one with these OCD questions.

    Thanks.

I understand all that, I’m not saying your question was stupid! Just follow the directions given and you would already answer most of the questions you have! There is still a copy of the notice of examination floating around on google. There really isn’t a mindset to figure out, everything is self-explanatory. Fill out the info, don’t leave any gaps and you should be fine. Again don’t over think it, you need some brain cells for school car lol.

Naw you right. I straight over think EVERYTHING I do. Good for my current job, but not life, lol.

Ok, got another. This one, not sure if anyone here can answer, but it came up when I looked up the original exam notice as you mentioned online, I found it.

It says: One year  of  full-time satisfactory  work  experience  that  has  been  continuous  with one employer. If  you  have serious  moving  violations,  a license suspension  or  an  accident  record,  you  may  be  disqualified.

    I had 2 suspensions. Both for tickets I forgot to pay. 1995 and 1999. And 2 disobey signs. 2017 & 2018.

Nothing open. Is this a disqualifier based on the exam notice or up to interviewer?

lol ummm where are you getting this information from? The position does not require 10 years experience. I believe it was 5 previous list, this one (7604) changed to 1 year work experience, don’t quote me I read that here in the early pages of the thread. They ASK you to list your work experience going back to high school. They ask for both, you can’t ask us why, we aren’t TA lol, if you want the job as bad as others, just give them what they want! Also if you don’t want your application being held up due to the interviewer at 180 I advise you to take your time and fill out that application to the best of your ability. This is why you have time to do it now so by the time they call you you’re not scrambling.

I see what is, my fault. I was looking at an old exam online.

I ask here because there could be some in here that works for TA  (For years) applying for promotion to train operator. Someone might actually know the answer.

Don't get me wrong, I submit what they want, but at the same time I'm trying to figure out the mindset for when I go in and I'm asked questions. I've actually re-did my application 3 times because I kept finding more information to my work history. I've had over 20 jobs, mostly because of Union work. Finding exact start/finish dates on a 23 year work history ain't that easy.

I'm from a school that taught, the only stupid question is the one you didn't ask. I just want to know as much as i can before going in for the interview.

They started Monday, selected divisions but haven’t been assigned their TSS’s. Ask him in a week they’re still doing the boring video stuff.

Dang...and somebody quit already? I thought he was doing some actual work that freaked him out.

  12. Here's something bugging me. I believe this position required 10 years experience. I have that easy, however they ask since high school. A little foggy for 3 years 20 years ago.

1-Why do they ask for both &

2-Are they really strict with mistakes on early work history if it's 20 years ago if the last 15 is accurate?

So, if someone quits the class or gets kicked out, do they call someone else from the list to take his place or no because the class has already started and the new person will have missed information?

    How many in your class?

Someone from my class quit today. He was too nervous about the job.

Probably for the best since he was freaking out since day 1.

So, if someone quits the class or gets kicked out, do they call someone else from the list to take his place or no because the class has already started and the new person will have missed information?

I'm 90x and I still haven't even been called for medical. Your expectations are very optimistic but don't set your heart on it because there's a good chance u will be dissapointed. I'm sure u will definitely be called at some point in 2019, but more likely towards the back half of it.

Spring’ish, worse is May’ish for me that is.

You haven't been called because they are up to 81x. You should be in Jan/Feb.

Me disappointed? Not a chance. None of us waiting for medical will be disappointed because we will eventually be called.

We are in a different climate as in the past. Tons of TO’s have retired or are retiring currently.

That’s why they were calling in people way before the list was released.

I looked through the thread again and re-did the math.

    Based on the facts:

    1-Classes nonstop since the summer

    2-About 60 per class, 2 classes a month = 120 numbers called a month

3- Dec 14th username on this thread candorgreen said he got called in and he is list #81x

4-If there are 2 classes a month, 120 medicals a month, and I count from the last number we know called, 810’ish, then to reach 1400’s it would take about 5 months. 5 x 120 = 600 + 810 = 1410. That’s Mayish. But it doesn’t matter, we will be called. It’s good to have gauge because life is happening while we are waiting. And this optimistic scenario is not counting the disqualified, those who are kicked out from training or those put on medical hold.

So best case scenario is spring’ish, worse is May’ish.

So is mine lol. Awaiting medical e-mail right there with you! When do you estimate they'll get to our number? March?

Oh yeah, lol just noticed your username.

I added 60 per class times the 3 classes from the last list number called plus 2 classes per month to reach the 1400's. I got March'ish.

BUT! That's only if everyone person passed medical and everyone called for each class stayed in the class and didn't get disqualified. Also depends if they do 2 classes a month which they have been doing since the summer.

Now after reading what's going on in here, many will be on medical hold, decide not to accept and others disqualified.

More than likely before March. 🙏🏾

Speaking from experience since I was put on hold for my diabetes (Started Class Yesterday)They have their own form for you to fill out. Might be able to call livingston and have it faxed in advanced. But without it they will put you on hold and hand you one personally when you go in for eval. I got mine cleared up within a week. You should be fine if you can get ahold of that paper before your med date.

What is the form name or number? Sometimes you can find these online.
