I only did pre-employment and drug test. 4 years to call you for medical? I'm pretty sure there were people there taking the medical who had just done pre employment just a few weeks before
ok I understand. Yes I can see it would be hard to go to my home country for the first few years. I'm still very interested in getting the position, I just want to make sure I know what to expect so I can arrange my life accordingly. Did you start accruing vacation time and sick days while in schoolcar or only after?
Ok good. Thank you. I was asking because I had a trip plan for next summer to visit my family in another country and I would have to change my plans if I can't get any type of vacation time off for one year.
Thank you so much for the very thorough reply. That was very helpful. So If I need to take time off on my first year for visiting family abroad or other reasons, would I be able to do so (of course unpaid)?
What about if you want time off without getting paid. I find it very strange that the mta would say in their benefits description that they offer 3 weeks paid vacation in the first year but they don't. I need to clarify the benefits they offer then before accepting the job.
That's really not that much. Especially considering it said on the job description benefits 3 weeks the first year. Can you at least request more time off unpaid?
Yeah I have read that too, but now I read that that's accrued after the first year, does that mean we don't get vacation or holiday pay the first year??
So you don't really get 3 weeks paid vacation the first year plus 12 days paid holiday? What if I need to take a day or two off before I have accrued the time off, is that possible (unpaid of course).
LOL True that. I used to do that when I was younger but now I wont go over 2 or max 3 light beers, I'm a light weight now. I doubt that would show up on a breathalyzer 24 hours later...
True. I mean if I have to work at 4 am it would be nice to drive even though I might have to take the train all the way back from 179th st Queens to Coney Island, but mostly I would take transit. I was also referring to the question somebody ask about going to train yards late at nights in not so nice neighborhoods.
I mean I'm sure if you just had a beer or 2 on your days off while eating dinner I don't think that would affect you or even come up on any drug/alcohol test.
