  1. So 3 years in xx then x? Does that mean you haven't had a steady schedule and days off the whole time being on xx?
  2. I only did pre-employment and drug test. 4 years to call you for medical? I'm pretty sure there were people there taking the medical who had just done pre employment just a few weeks before
  3. my trip was to go see my family so I guess I'll postpone and don't see my parents for this year.
  4. ok that's not too bad then if you start accruing in school car and can use holiday pay for vacation.
  5. ok I understand. Yes I can see it would be hard to go to my home country for the first few years. I'm still very interested in getting the position, I just want to make sure I know what to expect so I can arrange my life accordingly. Did you start accruing vacation time and sick days while in schoolcar or only after?
  6. Ok good. Thank you. I was asking because I had a trip plan for next summer to visit my family in another country and I would have to change my plans if I can't get any type of vacation time off for one year.
  7. Oh ok. That's very misleading since that's the benefits link to any position on the mta employment page.
  8. How came if you work January to December it only counts as working 10 months and not 12?
  9. Thank you so much for the very thorough reply. That was very helpful. So If I need to take time off on my first year for visiting family abroad or other reasons, would I be able to do so (of course unpaid)?
  10. On the mta career center. It says accrued in the first year to be used on the second. But it does say 3 weeks
  11. What about if you want time off without getting paid. I find it very strange that the mta would say in their benefits description that they offer 3 weeks paid vacation in the first year but they don't. I need to clarify the benefits they offer then before accepting the job.
  12. That's really not that much. Especially considering it said on the job description benefits 3 weeks the first year. Can you at least request more time off unpaid?
  13. Yeah I have read that too, but now I read that that's accrued after the first year, does that mean we don't get vacation or holiday pay the first year??
  14. So you don't really get 3 weeks paid vacation the first year plus 12 days paid holiday? What if I need to take a day or two off before I have accrued the time off, is that possible (unpaid of course).
  15. LOL True that. I used to do that when I was younger but now I wont go over 2 or max 3 light beers, I'm a light weight now. I doubt that would show up on a breathalyzer 24 hours later...
  16. True. I mean if I have to work at 4 am it would be nice to drive even though I might have to take the train all the way back from 179th st Queens to Coney Island, but mostly I would take transit. I was also referring to the question somebody ask about going to train yards late at nights in not so nice neighborhoods.
  17. I mean I'm sure if you just had a beer or 2 on your days off while eating dinner I don't think that would affect you or even come up on any drug/alcohol test.
  18. Do any of the reporting locations have parking? I have a car.
  19. oh ok Thank you so much! Sounds like the first couple of years in the extra extra will be hard but that's ok.
