  1. I have a question as well. Once your list number is reached and assuming you meet all relevant qualifications, do you still have to “pass” the interview? Or is the interview process more of a formality at that point. Reason I’m asking is because some city jobs like fire alarm dispatcher they give preference to those with relevant experience and who interview well, regardless of how high you scored on the multiple choice test

  2. After you pass the exam and your list number is reached, is the interview also evaluated as part of the hiring process? For example in DSNY, the only thing that matters is if you score high enough on the exam for your number to be called within the next few years. The interview there is more of a formality and not counted as part of hiring (you still have to pass physical and medical).

    The exam is basic reading comprehension similar to other civil service exams you might have taken. I saw some sample practice exams posted here in these forums, maybe if someone knows they can post their exact location
