Anyone complete the zoom class orientation?. Once you register,  is it the same link used to register or a different link to attend?  The instruction paper doesn't clarify and can you participate thru cellphone or need a computer/ laptop. I've never used zoom so I'm not sure how it works. Thx

When I registered I got a link sent to my email. I kept the email so on the day of orientation I just clicked on the link. You can use a cellphone or laptop, as long as your online your good.

That's good, so there should be more classes after the January class.

    Who was your source?

Carlos Albert. Chairman of the track division. He stopped by and spoke to the class.

Feels like a lot of people might not be responding to the employment emails with how quick they’re flying through the list. When I had to go down to 180 Livingston last week, it was only me and one other track guy there. Everybody else were mostly bus, conductor and traffic checkers.

If you get called in for medical,  and your not currently vaccinated. What is the procedure? Can you get vaccinated that day or will it hold you up? Also, if a booster shot is needed,  can you proceed to employment or do you need both shots prior?

They hand you a form that says, 1. Yes, you want to be vaccinated 2. You do not want the vaccine 3. You’re already vaccinated.

I chose I don’t want the vaccine and here I am in training. So no it will not hold you up.

On a side note they said they’re looking to hire 100 more track workers.

Just wanted to thank both of you guys for the advice. I tried reaching out to Ms Robinson but no responses came back so I had decided to go down to Livingston Street on Thursday and they were able to help me out big time.  They were able to get me an appointment for the medical the very next day being Friday for 7am. So yesterday "being Friday" I went down at 7am and took the medical and was cleared for final processing and got hired at around 4:30pm. I made it into the September 13th class.

Makes you wonder how many other people have been skipped over and they don’t even know it.

Going in for my drug test in a few days, my current job as a mail courier pays me $29.89 and once September hits I’ll be at $32 which my top pay at $35 (which would change within the next 2 years during the next contract) and my seniority is decent and I love my route especially where I live too! Now I’m here really contemplating wether it’s worth taking the pay cut or what. Im in a local aswell but im hearing nothing beats the city union. Is anyone else in the same boat as me who’s legit stuck. I wish MTA reached out too me before I got my full time position at my current job and now I got comfortable here too even leave to start over.. and btw with my current job I’ll be able to Transfer within the TriState and keep my same pay but with Trackworker I’m stuck in NYC . Just something I’ve been thinking longterm.

Based on the way you described your current job, it seems you should stay put to me. You can always reinstate your name back on the list in the future (as long as you do it before the list expires) if you change your mind.

Can anyone explain what the certification request is? I never received the email for pre employment? Does this always change? Thx

They only sent pre employment to the first 500 people. They haven’t gotten to your number yet, so you didn’t miss anything.

Still a little confused about what’s going on. Are you guys saying pre employment emails are going out and yet hiring has not started?

The deadline for the first 500 people to send in the pre employment paper work was last week Friday. I’m gonna assume they need time to review the information before they start the hiring process.

  8. After responding to the email for pre employment back in January, I get an email today saying I failed to report for labs. I never received any call or email telling me to come in, nothing in my junk mail folder either. This is crazy. Now I’m considering whether I should wait to be contacted for track worker since I’m in the mid 500’s and the list is moving, or restore my name to the bus operator list.

Anyone going on monday? I think im going to decline this appointment and keep holding off. x_x

Nervous about driving a bus? I know I am lol, but I need the job so I have to take the opportunity when they get to me. I was trying to hold out until they started calling from the 8600 track worker list but I have no idea when that list is gonna start moving.

Nope got there around 8am is and left around 1030ish, yeah it was before covid they make you wait all day just to go to the bathroom in a cup I remember those days 😭

Thank god lol. Might be the only good thing to come from this COVID stuff.

I'm here for 8:15 drug test checked temperature at the 5th floor and went to the front desk and was told to sit down to wait to be called, got called they checked my paperwork to make sure everything was good if not you fill it out there if you missed something by accident, they ask if you have any tickets or moving violations. Next is the drug test, they give you a paper you have to get stamped in the drug test room stick the paper all the way in the stamp machine is iffy like it was when I was hired for conductor back in 2019, you then put it into the slot and wait for your named to be called i was told to wait in the big waiting room because the room was full to capacity per covid guidelines, they call your name and then you sit in the drug test room and then they call your name and check your temperature before entering the testing place room. Once done you check in back with the front desk and tell them you're done they to me that they will either call us or email us if everything comes back good as in negative. That was all for today...

Were you there all day? That’s how it was before COVID and it was annoying.
