  1. Hi everybody, I am interested in the early NYC Subway cars and I would like to ask you, whether you could tell me the fate/remaining of one special subway car, in fact of car number 3398 (Gibbs HI-V motor, 1904). I think it ran in the back of another train on 22 August 1938 and wrecked. Maybe you could tell me, if this car was written off after this accident. I have read about an explosion and a fire after the collision. Moreover they treated the wreck with acetylene torches, so I like to think, that the motor car 3398 was wrecked after this collision, but maybe somebody here can give me a concrete answer. I would be quite grateful for that. Link to the accident: http://www.gendisasters.com/new-york/17935/new-york-new-york-subway-collision-aug-1938 Photos of accident
  2. Hi, recently I have read about the Lexington Avenue subway collision on 22. August 1938 and I saw some pictures about the car that ran in the back of the other train, a HI-V "Gibbs" number 3398. Now I would like to ask you, if anyone know the fate of the car. Most likely it wrecked due to the collision and sliced with acethylene torches. I have also heard about an explosion after the collision. I would be quite grateful if anyone could help me with my question.
