  1. It depends, bus stopped in bus stop and if it’s properly parked you won’t get blamed, if your sticking out, than you get blamed ( preventable accident) also any off route accident stopped or not is preventable ( unless directed to do so by the command or a dispatcher), if your running hot it can also be preventable even if stopped.

The same would apply for the Mta, if you tried to squeeze past a double parked car and hit the mirror it would be treated as a preventative accident. Mta will train you from the beginning to know the size of your bus, if you don’t think you’ll make it, call the command center & wait for assistance or wait for the car to move.  It doesn’t matter if the vehicle is parked illegally or not, you hit it

I don't think you would have a problem. A dude in my class had 2 accidents in the last year and he's doing line training. Whats crazy to me is that the vehicle you hit was double parked ILLEGALY but its still your fault? That vehicle should've not been there but I know how paratransit works. I used to work for MV before joining transit.

Might be tough. Might have to go down a couple side streets to find something. If you take public, take the E/J train to Jamaica Center and then the Q4, Q5, Q42, Q83, Q84 or Q85 bus to Merrick and Liberty and walk the block to the depot.

    And also congrats.

I’d take public transportation there if possible. Very bad for parking there.

Hi guys, so I qualified today, tomorrow I'm going to Jamaica Depot. Question, when does Line training begin? When do I get a schedule?

Congratulations, don’t rush it, you made it. Your probation starts from Your hire date, everyday you aren’t driving is good. ( for now) let your classmates catch up to you. Day 9 and day 10 qualifiers. Wait till you do like training and drive on your own, that’s when the run begins

Oh ok. Thx. I thought it was every month. Doesnt seem so bad but with my luck, I'll fail. Thanks for the explanation

For the first 30 days you need 70% & the Mac will qualify you to drive, than after that you have to show the report once a year. If you don’t have it just get a note from the sleep doctor and bring the sleep study report to the Mac, if you don’t have it you’ll be on your way

No worries. I guess its not meant for me. But good luck to ya.

It’s a good job, get a sleep study, it’s 50/50, either you have it or not, if you don’t have it just summit it to the doctors and you’ll be fine, if you have it you have to use the machine and be 70% for 30 days. Good luck to u on whatever you choice

Why are they sending you for the sleep study?

if you don't mind me asking, how much do you weigh/height?

I've read on here if your neck is larger than a certain size they automatically send you for that test, wonder how true that is.

You had to fill out a sleep questionnaire, what did you put down? What was your BMI? The doctors use neck size, BMI & the answers from Your sleep questionaire to make the decision to send for you the sleep study or not.

I was in upper manhattan, but I don't recall the streets, but I did have some acute turns which were quite difficult

The turns are difficult because they want you to learn, if you can’t do it with a instructor there imagine by yourself with a bus full of passengers. Who would you call? It’s all to train you properly.

  10. I guess it’s something new to ask the health questions online, when I started we sat in front of the computer and answered them, they are yes or no questions. The Mac doctor will go over the questionnaire again with you at your appt. How is your neck is it 17 or over?  Than the doctor will want a sleep study completed to proceed

  11. Listen to your instructor, he/she will guide & train you. You have to the drive the bus the ta way.  We can try to help you here but it isn’t the same as on the road, by day 6 are expected to know how to operate. Forward planning is the key. Watch the lights from a block plus away. Scan the mirrors every day 3-5. In the beginning it’s rough, we all been there. Good luck to you and everyone else
