  1. This feels like a classic case of someone over communicating and not doing it well enough. I was hired on 11/18/22 with a start date of 12/26. It was confusing one because it’s a reserved day. Two because when I attempted to register for orientation the necessary dates weren’t available lol. I emailed Hr asking how to proceed, no one responded. Then these emails came in. Worst case scenario I’m showing up anyway, should be a nice time and a half day on our first paycheck, OR an argument to be paid if in fact they messed up… cause some of you guys got hired a week ago and they’re pushing 12/26 for induction. Seems legit. I’m not too concerned about what session comes before the other because the blue sheet outlined everything. Imagine not showing up and they count that as a negative and it’s not even our fault. Pissed isn’t even the word🤦🏽‍♂️
  2. Got you. So if I win a big, I just show up for that job pretty consistently until it changes? Same days off for however long the time is…
  3. How do bids work, can a few ppl elaborate on them. I figured coming in I’ll get killed… but what’s a good strategy after a year or 2
  4. What’s Sub C and is it a desirable division or are you guys being sarcastic lol
  5. This was really helpful. Seems like something I’d better understand as it’s happening. I can see why they say not to drive. Better to park my car somewhere neutral. Overtime is calculated daily (if applicable) correct?
  6. Great Advice. Thank you. With regards to driving, I’ve driven all over the city AND a know the trains well from working in different neighborhoods. You’re not the 1st person to suggest not driving. From what I understand, depending on your route/train you can begin in one place and end your shift in another correct? Or does transit pay us to travel back to the station we originally started. Can you fill me in on this, am I making sense.
  7. This was very helpful. When you say straps, you mean like a backpack. I’m assuming they’re not allowed but it’s a gray area.
  8. Cool. How soon into Training do newbies leave the classroom setting? Is there alot of yard time. Also, any suggestions on shoes, bags, lunches etc.
  9. Awesome, so is there any night dif, or weekend pay during the 1st 6-8 months (assuming I’m b div) in school car. From what I understand there are rotating shifts years work etc while squatting certification for passenger transport…
  10. I appreciate all the info you and a few other T/O’s provided over the last year or so. (The Positive Info btw) My 1st appt was 8/24, 2nd appt (Medical) was 11/2 and final processing was 11/18. Start date is 12/26. To all those reading this message, just have patience and forget about it. I too was bitting my nails awaiting emails. They will get to you, and the anxiety is real. Thinking back it wasn’t that bad (aside from getting skipped by random TA employees taking drug test 😆) my question is, the NOE stated starting pay was $32 Something back in 2017. Naturally that went up twice, because even the heading rate (34.) is incorrect. They’re starting everyone at $37+ some can anyone confirm current top pay assuming it has gone up the same?! thanks and I wish everyone the best!
  11. My 1st drug test was 8/24, I wasn’t contacted for medical & 2nd drug test (same day) until late October with an appointment for 11/2 @ 10am.
  12. Thanks for your honesty. I’m a work horse. 8-12 hour days are something I do without noticing. What can I expect to earn with moderate overtime in year 1-2 . Inbox me if this is an uncomfortable question. I appreciate any feedback.
  13. This is golden and speaks directly to my situation. I come from insurance sales and during my best years I’ve grossed no less than 125k and maxed out at 180k HOWEVER the industry is unstable. I took this test back in early 2017 and I was recently laid off in June 2022. Transit called in Aug. so for me it’s trial and era. If I like it I’ll stay, if not I’ll put in a good 10 years to collect SOMETHING then transition into corporate again, or go entrepreneur. Bottom line is you only live once, and quite frankly this job for SOME was a 1st “real job” and that no disrespect to anyone. But when you enter ANY situation with maturity and experience, you can look at the glass as half full and kinda maneuver around the snakes and vultures who if not doing this wouldn’t be doing anything, which is why they’re so NASTY to folks. It is whatbit is. I took the test, the opportunity is here… either it will be another notch on my belt- experiment or a career. Everyone is different. I will say 90% of my folks who work for transit are not doing BAD in the least bit. Ppl love to complain. Also to tell the story from one side. To each his own. I gotta see for myself. At least TRY #respectfully
