i'd wonder what it be like if they put FASTRACK on the LIRR/Metro-North
Shuttle buses and anger. Work usually can't happen overnight so it's spread out over a few months during the middle of the day or weekend. If its a 2-4 track line, trains either single track or use temporary platforms. If the line is already single track, it's buses off peak for those few months.

Due to mechanical problems at the Prospect Park Station, Uptown [Q] trains are running on the [N] line between the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue Station and the Dekalb Avenue Station. Please expect delays in service on [Q] trains at this time. Â*

Am I the only one here who thinks these cars are hideous?
Nope. The front is horrid, and from what I've seen so far, the inside has way too much red

Otto Vondrak on Railroad.NET caught the test train at Harrison.
Catch the pics here.
I can't decide whether they're stunning or ugly, because they sure are both.
I was under the impression that 17-21 Tracks are third-rail ONLY, while the remaining tracks are equipped with both third rail and overhead catenary. Please correct me if I'm wrong.Next time you're there, take a look for yourself. All tracks have both systems so that in case of an emergency or if one of the lines is knoked out, trains can arrive and depart from any platform ie Amtrak from an LIRR platform or vice versa, as is done regularly on 13-16.

All Penn Station NY tracks and tunnels have both 3rd rail and catenary.

Don't trains between Patchogue and Jamaica use it too? I could have sworn there were more late morning/early afternoon trains that use it

Didn't affect subways but the FDNY issued a slow order presumably to make sure passing trains didn't do any more damage
