  1.

why is it an over reaction. ive never ever, nor would i ever say i hate this country. since he is an ultra liberal who is a big supporter of obama, and obama has said he wants to "fundamentally chamge America' You dont fundamentally change anything you love, you might tweek it to make it better, you only fundamentally change what you dont like or hate, so therefore it is not an over reaction

  2. LIRR Preliminary Fantasy Plan:

Electrify the main line to River Road (Just east of Yaphank), and extend Ronkonkoma trains to Yaphank. (Signals would be added)

The Oyster Bay, Port Jefferson, and Greenport branches are merged, with new stations on the un-built tracks. (Select rush hour trains run via the Huntington Branch) (Non-peak trains connect to Huntington Branch @Huntington)

West Hempstead Branch extended to Hempstead

Hempstead Branch after Country Life Press runs on new trackage to Babylon (with new stations being added in the process)

Hempstead Branch also does NOT run on the mainline, running through Central Queens, merging at Woodside (with new stops of course)

And that's all I have right now

how much of the couple of billion dollars you have for this

  3. I cannot afford to take LIRR because it's expensive.

My mom gave me money for Whole Foods shopping and lunch time snack when I go to LIBRU meeting, well as train money, but not always.

well maybe if the great charlene obernaur would do her thing at jobs with justice, and get you a job so you could afford the lirr, but then why would she, you do her bidding for her for the sham libru bitching about any little thing that goes wrong

  4. Shifting gears. I dont post here often but i got a rant. Why is Thanksgiving this year (2012) fall so early on the 22? I always thought it was the last Thursday in November. The last Thursday this year is Nov. 29 and thus we have a rare 5th Thursday of a month. I wonder if being celebrated this year so it's more shopping days for the Christmas/New Years Holiday season? :o And thus more $$$ for Department and Box stores.

thanksgiving is always the 4th thursday in november

  5. What happened to that whole "moving out of the country thing" when the guy you didn't like won? This seems like too much work for me.

well if all the people who said they were moving out of the country if bush won, we wouldnt have obama today, which in my opinion would be perfect.

now for the secession movement, there is nothing in the constitution that allows or forbids secession. now when the south seceded prior to the civil war, they used the part of the declaraton of independence that says

"Governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it and to institute new government."

Lincoln did not agree with that, he used a part of the Articles of confederation which said

'articles of Confederation and perpetual union between the states of new hampshire, massachusetts-bay, Rhode island and Providence plantations, connecticuit, New york, New jersey, pennsylvania, Delaware, maryland,, virginia, North carolina, South Carolina and Georgia"

Now in the 1869 Supreme Court Decision in Texas v White, which was about Texas selling US Government Bonds that they held, during the civil war, texas sold them, In the majority opinion by chief Justice Solomon Chase, who was Secretary of the Treasury in the Lincoln administration, chase used Lincoln`s interpretation of the constitution saying that the phrase "to form a more perfect union" meant what the Articles of Confederation said by calling the union perpetual. he wrote that since texas entered a perpetual union, the secession was unconstitutional so therefore they were still a part of the Union, during the Civil War so any decision by Texas, excluding civil cases like marraiges, civil matters,, etc were null and void.

Many constitutional scholars are troubled by the decision because while texas used a part of a document that s an official government document (The Declaration) Chase used a part of a document that is not an official document (The articles) and took a liberal interpretation of the phrase "a more perfect union"

That said, in 1870, President Grant signed an act that re-admitted Texas to the Union. so we have 2 branches of the federal government contradicting each other.

Now In my opinion, states that have secession movements, that use territory that was either purchased or annexed by the United States cant secede because the land was part of the United states already before that state entered the union.

Texas on the other hand is different. Texas was an independent country from 1836-1845 before they voluntarilly joined the union. Therefore the Texas secession movement claims that since Texas joined voluntarilly, they can leave voluntarilly.

it will be interesting to see what happens.

  6. (the quote) Sounds like some shit you'd read in a newspaper; "how hard is it really to drive a bus or train"..... "they have the easiest job in the world".... "they don't deserve all that money, they just sit on their asses all day".... yada yada yada.....

As much of enthusiasts that we are on this forum, out in the media (at least the NY media anyway), there's a serious bias that exists against transit.... and I'm talkin about outside of the whole BS regarding Darius McCollum....

agreed, but thats the way so called journalism works today. they sit on their high horses everyday and pick out who to take down and who to prop up everyday. its summed up perfectlly in a line from the movie "The Natural" when the reporter max mercy (played by robert duvall) when he said to roy hobbs (played by robert redford) "It doesnt matter, whether youre a hero or a goat today, youre gonna make me a great story tomorrow"
