Made my way up 2 avenue las nite after work around 5 PM...Got on at 63/Lex and I cant beilve how diffrent it looks with that bright ass orange wall gone lol...the cross platform transfer makes it almost a new station in itself!. I ended catching a rush hour "N" and it was a somewhat slow ride but It was rush hour and I found out there was a investigation at Lex/59 sending ALL "N"s to 96...Nice additional reroute option for dispatch lol..I will say this though...All 3 of the stations look EXACTLY the same minus artwork here and there but those Mezzanines Were VERY Unnesecary...People already kno he drill...Either all the up front or all the way in the back to actually exit...There are no Mid station exits and it just seems that they couldve shaved easily 2 Billion and 3 years off the project if it wasnt for those mezzanines...Isnt Half the system full of closed off mezzanines anyway??? So minus the nit needed mezz it looks great...and the tail tracks North run Deep! To at least 106 it looks like...Not sure why the 2 phase costs more when u already have tunnels built as to just deadending at 96.

  2. Was doin some thinkin about the future bronx extension if it ever gets built in my lifetime but heres a very intresting proposal

     

    Albeit it VERY expensive...I would peg it it around 10 Billion...BUT Well worth it....Here me out..apologize for the length...

     

    We all kno it will be built to connect with the 2/5/6 but what about the 4???? So I was lookin at google maps and came up with this..

     

    Leaving 3 ave/138 st the line curves north west to align with the 149/GC 4 Platforms Yet below the 2/5 platforms obviously

     

    This station would be situated directly below the Metro north tracks right before the split of the harlem and hudson line...With the transfer 

     

    connecting to the 2/5 platforms at the eastern end...possibly an direct connection at the south end of the platforms to the 4...

     

    Imagine the benefit of having the TWO direct ways into the east OR west side and Brooklyn...This new station/connection would EASILY

     

    Become the Bronx busiest station overtaking 161/yankee stadium (which still dont add up to me but whatever lol)

     

     

     

    ALSO...leaving the 149 st/GC Station heading north the line would be 2-3 tracks curving East onto 153 st to get back to 3 avenue and 

     

    head north as planned BUT to take advantage of some open space above Due north From the metro north split to 156 st bet concourse

     

    village and the metro north harlem line tracks you could build a new undergorund yard of at least 10-15 tracks since youre already deep 

     

    underground...Providing capacity for the entire line and taking pressure off exisiting yards.,,Tell me this wouldnt be a DOPE Idea Lol...

  3. I honestly dont think there should be a 125/Lex Stop UNLESS its officially gonna go across 125 st to at least st nich with the respected transfer points. Otherwise the line needs to head up to the Bronx up 3 ave for the 2/5/6 transfer...and even further up 3 ave in the future. Yes it involves another underwater tunnel but it would be most beneficial in my eyes..2 ave practically lines up with 3 ave in the bronx and the harlem river is barely half a mile wide if that

    5. All day service to 238/Wpr Via existing loop in the yard at 239 st

     

    A. Increased Frequencies to evry 10 minutes on both branches For service evry 5 mins Rockaway-200 St..

     

    B. Extended Rush hour service to Bedford pk (ends to early)

     

    C. Increase frequencies to evry 8 mins at least...

  5. The (5) to 241 St is regularly scheduled, there are 2 trips leaving Bowling Green at 9:27am, and 9:50am, they run express in the Bronx, then local north of E 180 St

    Ive seen These 5s to 241 Via my app when I have some down time at ma job...so this makes sense cuz its aorund this time...and ive known 5 trains to run express 3/149-E180 After the rush hour southbound...I assumr its for layups at unionport ..

    Trains between 3 Av - 149 St and E 180 St N/B weekday mornings, trains in bold run express

    B. Extend rush hour service to Bedford park till 10PM

    D.Peak direction EXP extended to 10pm 

     

    F. Peak direction express kings hwy-Jay st- metrotech 

     

    G.Extended to Kings Hwy during rush hours all LOCAL 

     

    J.Peak direction exp extended to 10PM beyond Myrtle with stops as follows.. Bway junction/Crescent/Woodhaven Blvd/121 st/Sutphin/Parsons

     

    N. Express service restored Canal-57 ST...skipping 49 st to avoid the 34 st shuffle...

  7. Perhaps you missed my history lesson(s) on the White Plains Road line train service in the past so I'll do a short refresher. 241 St-WPR was the historical terminal for east side train service. People from Mount Vernon and points north used that station for the Lexington and the Third Avenue services. When yours truly was a new M/M working in 239th St yard we still had unused Third Avenue cars stored there from the el's closure. Seventh Avenue trains started at the old Bronx Park terminal before it was closed and the direct connection with the Dyre Avenue line was put into operation. At that time (2) 7th Avenue service ran from Dyre to New Lots except for the late night shuttle between East 180th and Dyre. The public and the politicians wanted the TA to switch the northern terminals so Dyre became the (5) Lex terminal and 241St was left with the (2) train. This is what the people in the corridor between 241 St and East 180th St asked for. Those rush hour (5) trains to 241 St/238th St were left in place for the benefit of those commuters coming from the north. Those people entering and leaving the trains up there and many of those at Dyre Avenue are commuting by bus to other points and don't live near the subways. If we're speaking of NYC residents only I'd bet that the residents of Coop City and their politicians have more clout with the (MTA) compared to the upper WPR people. The only way the (MTA) swaps terminals again or adds service is if it benefits train operations and not for any other reason. Just over three years ago a proposal to adjust train service up there was panned by the riders and the politicians. Most of the riders hated a variation of your idea. As some have pointed out I don't think farebox counts or loading guidelines show a need for a service adjustment up there.  I haven't been down at street level at the stations up there in about 15 years but there used to be blue and white signs on the staircases that said Interborough system to Lexington Avenue /Fourth Avenue service to City Hall, South Ferry, and Brooklyn. Transfer to 7th Avenue service to Times Square. That's what White Plains Road service used to be. Carry on.

Well Its Nice for those who can afford 12 Bucks Roundtrip a day on the BXM11...While it does run pretty frequently cuz I see it Often...its still 12 Bucks roundtrip...And Subject to Traffic which at some point there always is...Like I said Before Previously...People are Not used to having the Option to go to the Eastside Becuase it was NEVER set up that way...Lets say The 5 was the "main" line and you hadda transfer at 180 for the westside Then People up this way wud just be used to that service pattern...I dont See Why the westside is more Important than the East...There both in the CBD Seperated By mere blocks when you reach 42...Its like the folks on Eastern Parkways In Brooklyn...You get access to either or...Gues thas askin too much up here in the Bx...But I Get it...No 5 service Outside of what WPR Already sees...

  9. I dont see the Issue at hand...Theres always "Gaps" in service even outside Rush hour so whas the big deal with the dyre line? Its the first to go when somethin goes wrong down the line...like fri with the rail condition at 96 st...The 2 was rerouted down Lex and the 5 shuttled 180-Dyre...I still find 180-241 More Important...Even in the rush hour With the 238 5s ...Dyre see a train every 6-8 minutes...And Ive even been on 238 bound 5s that get rerouted to Dyre at 180...to my dismay...its always a 50/50 shot with these nereid 5s...When you get to 180th you see people get off and wait for the 2 becuase 50 percent of the time it may either go thru as scheduled to or run express to Gun hill then 241 or lastly a reroute to dyre...It just seems the 5 along WPR is a pain to operate from the dispatchers point...So I Guess the 2 it is...

Ok Im Not Tryin to "shaft" the dyre riders But its less stops on dyre then wpr...so to correct this how about every 3rd 5 outta 180 head up to 238!....the 5 runs pretty frequently so I think this isnt askin too much...and the reason why theres no deamand for Lex ave is becuase its never been offered on a regular basis outside of rush hours....im sure the demand is there But folks up this way are just used to havin direct westside access and transfer south of 180 for the eastside...I work on 42nd And id gladly pass over the 2 for the 5...the 5 makes less stops south of 149 compared to the 2...especially when its peak exp...its 50 mins on the 2 and with exp 5 its about 40 mins...Just sayin...

I was lookin at google maps flyin over the yards randomly and noticed that the 239 st yard for the 2/5 has a Loop track that extends perfectly around the 12/13 layup tracks that hold the 5s And Enter back into the yard leads...I Know its Never been done But since I live along wpr at 233 st The 2 Could use all day 5 service (via the loop)...the 2 gets Rediculously crowded even in midday...Id propose IF mta had the money how about 5 trains to Nereid ave in both directions

    Just alternate em at 180 bet here and Dyre ave...Sometimes the waits bet 2s is 10 mins and better and theres no seats by time we get to 180 st...From 6am-10pm mon-fri...sort of the like the all day expresses on the 6 and 7 Lines! I Think this could work!

It went Well When I went in...The women at 180 are very strict and showed little to no patience with folks...Hada be very attentive and on the ball...I got there at 715AMand was done around 11AM...Now Just Hopin for the call todo the medical...Im still surprised to even been called for the DT considering my list number is in the low 2000s and they only just appointed people from the 1600 Range...So that being said I dont expect to hear back until around February March...At least I got my foot in the door after 4 long years of waiting...

  13. D/T results are good for 90 days. Next, they may call you for medical or another D/T if the class gets filled before they reach your number.

     

    Ok very good And On average a class consists of about 40 People /Per Month I Gather...With That Being said My List Number is in the Very Low 2000 Range...So Im Lookin At bein called Back Around March?

Well Its been over a week since I took the piss test (las wednesday)  and No letter or call yet...Im hopin I made it past this first of many hurdles...I read here you would know within a week if u failed the DT ...So far so good...I know im not makin the december class given my list number is in the Low 2000 range..so maybe january-march classes..God willing...I need this like a patient on the list waitin for a transplant Tru Story....Keepin yall updated jus as yall do...God Bless...

Well Heres My Update On This....To My Surprise I received the letter for Train Operator Last friday...Went in this past wednesday to 180 and Took the D/T...Had no idea they were movin along this fast ...Cuaght me off guard if you catch my drift...So The lab technician told me if i recive a call within 48 hours of the test then Im f**ked lol...Well So far so Good!!! No Call as of yet and the 48 hour mark was this mornin at 11AM...keepin ma fingers crossed...as the days past...I kicked the habit about 3.5 weeks ago and been drinkin water and excercising and I feel great..So Just Hopin I get this Becuase This is Truly a game changer for my life...im doin security right now makin 16 bucks an hour...this is startin at 30...double what im gettin not mentionin overtime...I feel truly blessed to even be in this position and be considered...Hopin to hear from them soon with the news to come back for the medical and final processing...List number 2.017...Best of luck to all the future T/Os...I want the "A" division cuz im in LOVE with the 5 Train lol...
