  1. Yea $5.25 is not worth it from Lynbrook. I'd just take the n4.

Yea the n4 local is a hit or a miss. And always has been even when the (MTA) ran the show. But I just use the "Transit" app. I've tested it some Freeport bound n4s left a minute ahead schedule. It's just a matter of luck. When you don't need the bus they site up in bunches of 2 and even 3. But when you actually need it it doesn't show up. :sigh:

$5.25?  Not on NICE...  All buses are regular fare - local and express.

  2. Nassau County is not New York City, hence you will probably never see bus lanes or a BRT system in place on Long Island. You're better off pushing for a bus priority lighting system from the county because that's the most feasible idea. Not enough people take the bus system in the county and not enough residents respect it enough to give it it's own lane on some major roads. The traffic patterns just wouldn't work.

As far the n20, you're never going to get bus lanes on Northern Blvd, whether in the city on the Q12 or in Nassau County. People would fight that to the end. I know, I'm on Northern Blvd daily.

I heard today from a reliable NYCT source that there a plans on paper for a complete redesign of the Merrick blvd corridor complete with dedicated BRT service lanes. No idea on timeframe if any. But it's on paper...

  3. Nassau's Orion V's are being prepared for inspection, and service under a new operator. That's all. They also have to be changed into the NICE livery soon..

MTA's new chief has nothing to do with LIB come January 1st. There isn't really a "fiasco" to provide a solution to either.

It certainly looks like a fiasco on the inside! The big problem with the DOT inspections is that so many of our buses are failing!

By the way... It was a pleasure driving 724 today. Runs better than any of our Orion V's and the passegners loved the old express style seating. Cant tell you how many people were taking pictures!
