  1. It feels like waiting for any train on the Sixth Avenue Line is futile most of the time; good thing the (1)(2)(3) run well only one block west. But that's beside the point.

In all honesty, I'd like to see the (1) get upgraded, both in terms of rolling stock and frequency. For such an important line, it seems pretty neglected. I couldn't begin to tell you how many times it feels like express after express comes with no local, which becomes a problem when you have to travel to Columbia a lot. The (3) is probably the lowest-priority IRT line in terms of needing an upgrade, most likely because it only has two unique stations and the (7) and (1) are far more heavily used. But as long as IRT service stays as good as it is, ie better than the B Division, I'm fine with whatever car type shows up.

I don't think it's the frequency that's a problem, but more of maintaining the frequency, 7th Av/Broadway line runs 4-6 minutes in mid-day.

  2. Like it or not, I still think the most likely destination for the displaced R62As from the (7) will be the (6). [they're not going to the (2)(5) because of Flatbush and at times 180th.]

This has nothing to do with the 'politics' of the UES. If those riders don't like to ride the old cars, then they can take the bus to the West side or try their luck with the taxies. They should be fortunate to have anything serving them.

Now what I still wonder is if they will link those single R62A cars into 5-car sets. Then again at least maybe there will be rfws again on the Pelham line.

Unrelated: I still think the MTA should think about using 60' IRT cars [as long as the R143/R160s but narrow like the R142s]. Why go thru this hassle over the 11th car? I mean is Steinway that much of a problem that cars can't be longer than 51' long?

Theres always the option of taking the M15 SBS,

It think it would be better to have all cars be 51' instead of 51' & 60'. It creates less of a hassle, if they to have a Corona train running on the other IR lines (IE the Corona set running on the (1)) Also to avoid the problem with the BMT/IND 60' & 75'
