I was walking in Times Square yesterday (I hate tourists... ugh!) And something caught my eye out of the window of the ASICS store on 42nd Street. They have a real MTA train inside the store! I want to say it's probably a R30. It's painted in silver with the blue racing stipe. It's cut in half, but it's basically untouched from the day it retired, with graffiti inside and outside the car, and they kept the old ads. They even left the chairs and straphangers. If anyone's interested, the address of the store is:
120 West 42nd Street
(sorry if this was posted before- I didn't feel like reading through 832 pages of random thoughts!)
Happy New Years,

Here are some changes I think should be made to the B train and the IND 8th Avenue line. First off, the B should have a color change to blue and be rerouted. It would maintain it's existing route between Norwood-205th street and West 4 Street-Washington Square however it would run express between 145 Street and 59 Street-Columbus Circle and serve the extension to Norwood-205 Street at all times instead of rush hours (well actually the current rush hour B terminates at Bedford Park Boulevard, one station earlier). However after West 4 Street, it would switch to the IND 8th Avenue line as an express towards Euclid Avenue. Then it continues along the A branch to Rockaway Park at all times, replacing the Rockaway Shuttle line. Also all A trains will be routed towards Far Rockaway and the C would be extended to Lefferts Boulevard to compensate for the A train consolidation to Far Rockaway. An additional change as well would be switching the D to the local tracks between 145 Street and 59 Street-Columbus Circle and terminating at 145 Street at all times to compensate for the B switching to the express tracks.
Go home Q90, you're drunk.

I had to go to Rockaway on Saturday, and I was lucky enough to catch an R42. What a ride that was! I was by the railfan window, and the train suddenly stopped by that small bridge between Howard Beach and Broad Channel. We were just stuck there and didn't move for at least 45 minutes. From what I could tell, the T/O couldn't communicate with the Conductor. The T/O left his booth and walked to the back of the train (to the conductor, I assume). While he was gone, someone decided to get out of the train and start walking to Broad Channel. Finally after over 45 minutes, the conductor got back and we started moving again. A few minutes later, I hear from the T/O's booth "What the f' is this n'er doing hitchhiking on the side of the tracks?" So we had to stop for another 10 minutes to get him back on the train. At Broad Channel, they took the train out of service, and the conductor said he was bringing the train into the shop.
Hopefully they'll keep the 42s. As bad as that ride was, I love that railfan window!

From what I've seen they're doing pretty well....given the kind of animals that step on them.
I work in Jamaica, and I come from The City every day. Don't even get me started with the animals on the train, let alone the animals in Jamaica...

I don't know but why not put in a 4 car station between Bay 50th St on the and 25th Avenue so people from the projects don't have to walk!
I like that! That way I don't have to have the ghetto folk grilling my shizznid while I'm waiting for my ...

Hey all!
I saw this yesterday on a Brighton express train. I forgot if it was an R68 or R68A. Anyway, I thought it was weird. It looks like it had a ripped bullet that was ripped in half with a bullet right behind it. Anyone know about this?
Thanks!
