  1. The simplest fix really seems to be adding a second flyover from the middle track at 180th Street to Morris park on the (5) The problem is i remember back in 2011 i think it was all the trackwork was rearranged so i doubt the (MTA) will want to tear up new tracks there again. And having lived near the WPR line all my life on Simpson Street it really does seem to be about ridership. The (5) will pull into 180th street either full or 3/4s full and if a (2) pulls in at the same time coming southbound the transfer will fill the (5) And as some people have mentioned here most people between East Tremont and Jackson Avenue are heades for the west side, you dont see many hop off at 3rd avenue or Grand Concourse and the same can be said on the return trip. If the (2) and (5) were to switch roles in the bronx not even terminals but just express and local,  you would have a bad crowding situation at 3rd avenue and 149th-GC because you would have the people from the west farms transfering to the lexington line and vice versa unless you completely take it to a next level and switch the lines completely.

  2. Why does the (W) have to return? You could split routes you know.

But that would cause confusion to some passengers, i'd rather still have separate services.

Thats the same question people asked when the (H) was temporarily brought back for rockaway after sandy, the (W) would just be a substitute and i'm sure the R160s still have the (W) announcements and GO announcements.

The other thing i can think of is send the (R) through Coney Island Via Brighton and terminate at Prospect Park.

  3.  NEXT:

A sinkhole inside Central Park has threatened the structural integrity of the 60th and 63rd street lines and the Central Park West lines (the Broadway-7th Avenue line is NOT affected by this).

    Reroute/Suspend.

Ok lets start by getting the easy ones first

    (F) Runs Via the (M) to 47th Street

    (N) & (Q) Trains Terminate at QueensBoro Plaza

    (R) Trains Terminate at 57th Street (if they can't terminate there because its to close to sink hole then they terminate at 34th Street, and then make some complicated relay movements to return south) (R) Trains replace the (N) in Brooklyn runs Via Montague

    (W) Takes over the (Q) in Brooklyn running from Coney Island to 57th Via Bridge

    (D) Trains Run from Coney Island to W. 4th Street

    (B) Trains run from Brighton to W. 4th Street

If anybody can take the (A)(C)(E) is more than welcome as i'm not familiar with their line all that well.

  4. Not without severely disrupting the (C) at 14th, plus there are no switches there.  The (L) would have to run at AT LEAST Columbus Circle to do what you suggested.

A more likely scenario for your plan would be for the (C) to (from 168th) after West 4th (going southbound) run via the (M) and then (J) to Broadway Junction and from there via and replacing the (L) to Rockaway Parkway.

But then to maintain frequent service on the (A)(C) Line you would have to throw the (E) to Euclid, The (C) also would have to run either Local or express one way to/from Carnarsie. Or the (C) could be suspended whole and have the (L) Cover the (C) on central park west and the (E) below 59th Street. There's alot of possibilities by throwing the (L) into Manhattan Via the (J) Line.

  5. That big lay-up yard was probably eliminated from the plans. The most we'll see in terms of any provisions for Bronx service will likely be a couple of bellmouths right before the line curves west to Lexington Ave.

Well thats tragic because we all know and so do they that the second avenue line was being constructed to alleviate the Lexington Line and provide service when the 2nd & 3rd Avenue ELs where torn down. They should make more than just a couple of bellmouths, they should at least make a provision up to the river, it would save time and money if and when they decide to extend into the bronx. This whole phase idea for me is bullcrap on the (MTA) side, they should halt construction on the East Side Access and concentrate all efforts on the SAS. Right now at the moment the SAS should be priority because that Lexington Line is struggling to keep up. They say "oh we'll just add more trains" but thats not the solution. Make the line, make provisions to extend the line and think about entering the bronx to alleviate the buses on 3rd Avenue. 3rd Avenue is the same as Lexington Avenue Line except with buses, they should concentrate on what matters and what is important. Harold interlocking can wait, bringing new haven trains into Penn Station can wait, Bringing LIRR trains into Grand Central can wait. Its all about the SAS, its a miracle these construction efforts have not stopped like in the 70s and 40s. I swear the MTA has to get their priorities straight.

Sorry but ive been holding a grudge with the MTA for quite a while now.

  6. There is a water main break at Bedford Ave flooding the (L) from Bedford to Grand Street.

    Replace/Suspened

No Service Between Broadway Junction and 8th Avenue Manhattan

    (L) Trains terminate at 14th Street-8th Avenue on the 8th Avenue line

    (L) runs via Nassau Street & 8th Avenue. Switching onto the Jamaica Line at Broadway junction and making all stops to Delancey-Essex. Switches onto the 6th Avenue line via (M). Switches onto 8th Avenue at W. 4th Street.  Terminates at 14th Street-8th Avenue on (A) express tracks and relays below 34th to make the return trip.

Shuttle buses replace the (L) between Broadway Junction and 8th Avenue along normal (L) route.

    YES THIS CAN BE DONE

  7. Nice one:

There is a stalled train at QueensBoro Plaza on the (7) UpTown Platform.

    Reroute/Suspended.

    (7) Northbound run on the southbound track between Hunterspoint and QueensBoro Plaza, after Queensboro plaza Northbound (7) trains switch over onto the NB local track. Select (7) NB trains run express, Southbound (7) trains run with delays. Select SB (7) trains terminate at Queensboro Plaza and head back north.

  8. ok now

A power box breaks down and completely shuts off all power in Times Square and no service is available at Times Square on any line.

    Lines Affected

    (A)(C)(E)(N)(Q)(R)(S)(1)(2)(3)(7)

    Reroute/Suspend!

    (2) Trains are running down Lexington Avenue

    (1) 207th -96th Street Express between 137th and 96th southbound, local northbound. 2 (S) Trains operating between 34th and South Ferry

    (3) 148th-96th Street & New Lots-South Ferry via Bowling Green

    (A) Dyckman-59th Street & Lefferts Blvd-34th Street

    (C) 168th-59th Street & Euclid-34th Street

    (E) Terminates at Lexington/53rd

    (S) Suspended

    (7) Terminates at Grand Central using Crossover in Steinway tunnel

    (N) Terminates at 57th

    (Q) No service in queens run from Stillwell to Whitehall

    (R) 36th Street-Whitehall

    (B) Takes over on Brighton

    (D) Runs local on Central Park West

  9. Bronx River (S) connecting the (2)(5)(6)<6> Lines from 180th street to with stops at

    180th Street (2)(5)(9)(S)

    177th Street (S)

    174th Street (S)

    172nd Street-Boynton Avenue (S)

    Elder Avenue (6)(S)

    Westchester Avenue (S)(6)

    Simpson Street (2)(5)(6)

There would be an elevated wye connection at boynton and westchester, with elder being double level, a grade junction before the bronx river viaduct with the (S) breaking off the (6) and running parallel to the (6) until whitlock and westchester aves. The Line would go straight up westchester until the double level Simpson Street station with a 2 way junction at simpson.

Looking at engraving on the rail it says the year. I saw the rails to the W/B track to the B platform it says or said 1988.

1988???!!! How can those rails keep up for almost 25 years? They should apply the FastTrack program to the LIRR to fix that. smh

  12. I rode a train to Croton-Harmon today, was a great trip great view of the hudson and the suburbs. The only thing bad was the train consisted of 10 Shoreliners and a genny . A mix of Shoreliner's I, III the trip was sort of shaky all the way up. I think it's time to get new equipment on that line, Shoreliners are really outdated. But's thats my opinion, but the good thing is i rode an M7 on my way back, smooth and quiet. :)

  13. Nice work green egg's love the way the yards look like!!!!

    Special Note

For those that have been wondering i will release the freelanced version of Nereid yard i showed a few post back. i just have to add the 3rd rail and make sure all the curves are not to sharp or wide. Also since it is a freelanced version you can use it for any type of division A division 50 foot cars (1)(2)(3)(4)(5)(6)(7)

    B Division 60/75 Foot Cars (A)(B)(C)(D)(E)(F)(G)(J)(L)(M)(N)(Q)(R)(S)(V)(W)(Z)

i will upload the yards to a file hosting site within the coming days

  14. From above:

"The first route I will release is the (5) route, from 241 St & Dyre down to Flatbush Av"

Not to sound rude, but ya peeps gotta read through the posts carefully before asking questions.

Yes i understand sorry to sound redundant and annoying but what i'm trying to say is will you make both branches? the one from Dyre and the one from 241st-Wakefield from 180th to their respective Home Terminals?

  15. A few TSSs, including our instructors, went up there two days ago and got pictures, video and pamphlets full of schematics (the cover featured and angled picture of the front bonnet and a few feet of the body... of course it only looked like a 142A fresh from a wash). The Master Controller Console actually isn't like the R-143/160 as I thought it would be, and the Dead Man feature only allows the handle to be twisted in one direction-against the right hand's normal angle of rest, to prevent BIEs. Of course there's the extra TOD as it's utilized on the (L). They barely felt comfortable showing us, so I won't post anything. It looked really cool, though. They got to play with them, too! Boo!

Wouldn't it even be possible to show a sneak peek of the Front bonnet? Not even the entire front just a little piece?

  16. I'm all for it its better than doing the fixing one piece at a time. The cost of money needed to do this would reduce greatly because you don't need so many flaggers and so many diversions and reroutes to do the work. Efficiency would rise and the work can be done even before they predict. Do you know how much you can do in 7 hours? Especially for the workers without having to worry of passenger trains coming through the work zones. Like the MTA said "All hand's On Deck!!":cool:
