Subway, health needs get budget OK

WASHINGTON - Big-ticket items for New York City, including continued funding for 9/11 health programs and the Second Ave. subway, survived the ax as Congress hashed out a huge domestic spending bill Tuesday.

 

House and Senate negotiators approved $108 million to treat the health needs of first responders and others exposed to environmental hazards after 9/11, members of the city's congressional delegation said.
