Government parking placards 'outrage,' Mayor Bloomberg says

Parking permits that end up with drivers who don't need them for government business are an "outrage," Mayor Bloomberg declared Wednesday.

 

"I don't see why anybody should have a parking placard unless they are a government employee in a job where they have to expeditiously leave their car and go in to do their job and then move it repeatedly," Bloomberg said. "And I don't think they should be given parking placards to use when they are retired or to use in their personal life."

 

The mayor was responding to Daily News reports Tuesday and yesterday that the Metropolitan Transportation Authority has granted parking placards to former board members and staffers.
