No tolls paid on 24,000 E-ZPasses

Nearly all have been issued to government agencies, with the biggest batches going to the NYPD, the Fire Department and the state police.

 

But some are puzzling.

 

A handful of the freebie E-ZPasses are used by the Port Washington Police Department - the only local police department on Long Island that has the passes, according to an agency-by-agency breakdown provided by the MTA under a Freedom of Information Law request.

 

In Westchester County, only the New Rochelle Police Department and the White Plains Public Safety Department have thegratis tags - four and six passes, respectively.
