F train rerouted to 53rd what happens at the 63rd street station

I noticed that whenever the F is rerouted to the 53rd street corridor what is actually happening on the Lex/63rd street station? I know that they are building the 2nd avenue subway but do the workers also work on the station itself or behind the big blue wall. It is tempting to go and take a peek of the work zone when the F is not running on the 63rd street corridor.
