DetSMART45 Posted September 28, 2016 Share #1 Posted September 28, 2016 It appears up to 6 people were injured in an early morning DDOT bus crash on Detroit's east side. Bus #4132 took a major wallop as it looks like the operator was attempting to avoid the collision, crashing into a utility pole and ending up hitting a gas station's canopy support made of brick. Looks to be a Route 9--Chalmers on the second northbound run of the day, as it happened just after 6:00am. The operator and the driver of the car involved (whose radio could still be heard blaring after the accident) had the most injuries, and 4 bus customers had minor injuries. Both the operator and the driver of the car were taken to St. John Hospital, and other reports said the bus customers were treated at the scene. Cameras will tell the true story of what happened, but the 2005 New Flyer D40LF looks like its days are over, unless major plastic surgery is done to the front end.
