CheapLeak Posted October 25, 2023 Share #1 Posted October 25, 2023 (edited) I saw a picture on an eBay rollsign listing that had the route FF on it. Any info on the route of it or just any information? I haven’t seen anything online about it besides that one listing. https://www.ebay.com/itm/192889421942?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=Ska4_BjgRgy&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=yviz8q7ytjo&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Edited October 25, 2023 by CheapLeak Added link
ABCDEFGJLMNQRSSSWZ Posted October 25, 2023 Share #2 Posted October 25, 2023 When the IND first began operating, they had a distinct nomenclature. The letter of a line signified which combination of routes the line ran on. For instance, F was used to signify the combination of Culver - 6th Av - Queens Blvd. Double-letter trains signified a line was entirely local. A line with any express portion would use a single letter. Since the has always run express on Queens BLVD, (FF) was never used. However, if the IND decided to run a fully local Culver - 6th Av - Queens BLVD service at the time, it likely would've been called the (FF). Slowly because of unification and also the Chrystie St Connection, this nomenclature started to get complicated and messed up. Eventually, the MTA fully eliminated double-letter bullets in 1985.
